COMMUNICATION DESIGNER

Design Centre Asia (DCA) is part of the Sony Design global network and is one of four design studios located worldwide, reporting to the Creative Center (headquarters) in Tokyo, Japan. Our studio contributes to the design & development of Sony products, provides in-house creative services to our sales & marketing teams in the Asia Pacific region, and supports the Creative Center on design and strategic research projects.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated communication designer to join the DCA team.

Responsibilities:

• Take on design projects with minimum guidance
  • Carry out design work in a self-directed manner within your team, under the guidance of the head of communication design department
  • Deliver design for all stages of the customer journey
  • Deliver design that spans project phases: concept to market (sketches, mockups, low and hi-fidelity comps, guidelines, market-ready assets)
     
• Responsible for the quality of the design output
  • Explore multitude design directions in a quick repetitive fashion
  • Produce outstanding design solutions that communicate clearly
  • Maintain visual design language that is consistent with brand
     
• Take responsibility of the time management of the projects
  • Plan and manage project schedules independently
  • Proactive in arranging review meetings with mentors/ managers in a timely manner
  • Deliver work on or before pre-agreed deadlines
     
• Communication with stakeholders with advice from managers
  • Work collaboratively with other designers, project managers, and marketing colleagues from diverse nationalities and backgrounds
  • Communicate design ideas, concepts and strategies clearly and effectively to team members and clients

• Possess bandwidth to take on projects beyond own expertise
  • Produce high quality output in disciplines outside of communication design

Requirements:

• BA or Diploma in Communication Design or related studies
• A minimum of 2 years of professional communication design experience
• Portfolio with relevant projects (demonstrate process)
• Strong visual design foundation (typography, colour, layout, etc.)
• Expert proficiency in leading design software (Adobe Creative Suite)
• Quick and efficient at creating design sketches and final market-ready assets
• Ability to complete assignments through many rounds of refinement
• Able to work independently with some supervision
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
• Desire for continual learning and self-improvement
• Design for consumer electronics industry a plus
• Video editing, motion graphics, 3D modelling & rendering, interior/event/space design, illustration, UI/UX design, qualitative research capabilities a plus
