The Communications Team at Nextdoor is tasked with building and executing a world-class communications strategy to elevate the power of Nextdoor, while supporting the company’s rapid growth and adoption. Our team’s mission is to help neighbors around the world understand how Nextdoor can help each other in their daily lives, stay in the know, and build deeper real-world connections.

The Impact You’ll Make

In this full-time contractor role as a Communications Coordinator at Nextdoor, you’ll use our platform to source and report inspiring neighbor stories. You’ll be responsible for mining for notable Nextdoor posts, conducting outreach, and interviewing neighbors, business owners, and public agencies who use our platform to help us tell their stories on social media and in additional mediums, including: case studies, press releases, internal presentations, blog posts, and more. Additionally, you will support the Communications team in monitoring Nextdoor mentions in the media and flagging articles to necessary stakeholders. You’ll also be responsible for tracking metrics including sentiment and message pull-through for key team KPIs.

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Mining Nextdoor databases to find inspiring posts and stories on Nextdoor and conducting outreach to Nextdoor users
  • Interviewing Nextdoor users to obtain information and writing clear, concise copy based on those interviews
  • Developing written materials, including blog posts, user case studies, and social media copy
  • Monitoring press coverage, logging Nextdoor media mentions, and providing metrics including media  sentiment to report out to key stakeholders
What You’ll Bring To The Team
  • You have a journalist’s eye when it comes to stories and content that resonates with readers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently under deadlines 
  • Ability to multitask and work well with team members in a fast-paced environment 
  • Deep interest in national/local news, trends, community, and social media 
  • Passion for Nextdoor’s product, purpose, and mission 
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years experience in journalism, communications, or PR BS degree in journalism or relevant field encouraged, but not required 
  • Please include 2-3 writing samples in addition to your resume
Rewards

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create one overall rewards package.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $61,000 to $100,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. Compensation may also vary by geography.

We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.

Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
