KBR is seeking a candidate for a Satellite Communication Transport Engineering Support in Chantilly, VA. This position serves within a Major Systems Program Office within the NRO Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) Directorate. Provides satellite communications systems technical engineering and programmatic support for all lifecycle phases of a major US Government satellite systems program office. The individual will support the government customer in the development of requirements, assessment of design and development activities, the monitoring and assessment of integration and test activities, requirements verification along with coordinating technical interfaces and future mission operations.

Responsibilities include:

• Support program office communications systems enabling end-to-end support for key external interfaces
• Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on communications links to include definition, management and protocols for ground, RF and laser communication systems
• Support cross-organizational communications concerning the definition, design, test and management of communication links
• Work with Frequency Management Office coordinating spectrum use allocations
• Support cryptographic needs definition, solution generation, and operational key coordination
• Supports space vehicle ground full lifecycle for external communications interfaces through requirements development, design, HW build, integration, and test
• Provides lead technical/programmatic support for all communications-related Request for Change (RFC) proposals and proposal technical evaluations
• Maintain/tracks extensive external Interface Control Document (ICD) baseline for legacy communications systems and networks required to demonstrate system closure
• Leads technical coordination of system-level test requirements for external ICD risk reduction and verification activities
• Support development of design space options for future communications capabilities to include representing the program office in Integrated Product Teams
• Support evaluation of communications transport architecture options and design trades
• Develop, perform or oversee studies for program office communications enhancement opportunities
• Generates/tracks communications system program office risks with dependencies and giver/receiver items with external stakeholders for risk mitigation activities

Required Qualifications

• Technical Bachelor's degree in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline and at least 10-years' relevant experience
• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
• In-depth knowledge of communications architectures to include terrestrial, RF and laser
• Working knowledge of the NRO communication architecture and systems
• Experience working in a satellite systems program office or satellite development contractors
• Experience in all phases of space systems' life-cycle (Ground/Operations)
• Critical thinking skills
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams requiring collaboration, open communications, and willingness to work in a collaborative work environment
• Travel withing the US at least every other month

Desired qualifications

• Knowledge of overhead SIGINT systems
• Master's degree in STEM field or 10+ years of relevant experience
