The Communications Leader supports the development and integration of strategic communication plans needed to ensure alignment and understanding of the utilities' business and strategic priorities. This position reports to the Chief Customer Officer and is responsible for leading the team driving both AES Indiana and AES Ohio's media and public engagement.
- Lead the development and implementation of a fully integrated media strategy for AES US Utilities
- Ability to provide leadership, strategic focus, and management oversight for proactive and reactive media outreach across platforms.
- Serve as an advisor and partner to the business on media relations and crisis communications.
- Manage a team to deliver a set of key outcomes and deliverables and to foster a culture that is supportive, collaborative and results-oriented.
- Ability to build, maintain, and expand successful relationships with regional and local media.
- Identify opportunities to build AES Indiana's and AES Ohio's reputation and lead proactive outreach efforts
- Stay ahead of emerging media trends and channels, and update strategy accordingly
- Oversee and support partnerships with external organizations that raise awareness of AES US Utilities initiatives in the community
- Manage other external communications and marketing efforts as required
- Help to facilitate two-way communication and feedback sharing between the global and local teams
- Engage with and ensure coordination with other Communications practice areas such as Brand Marketing, Internal Communications, Creative Services, Digital, and Brand and Culture Development as needed
- Share best practices across the global Communications team
