The Position
We are seeking a Manager of Communications to support various internal and external communications strategies and tactics for the Dicerna Transformational Research Unit (TRU), the Boston Development organization and other key functions based from our Lexington and Boulder sites. This role is designed to amplify to employees and external stakeholders the Dicerna TRU's science, technology and people, elevate and support key clinical development and other functional activities, foster a sense of community amongst Global US R&D employees by helping to manage and create successful communications and public relations initiatives and programs. We are looking for a conscientious self-starter who is ready to roll up their sleeves and support and deliver communications across all internal and external stakeholders. As a successful candidate, you will recognize and take advantage of the unique opportunities to partner with energetic employees across multiple functional areas and around the world. This individual will primarily support the development and execution of all internal and external communications on behalf of the US R&EDOps organization. Working closely with the Reporting to the Head of Communications for Global Research & Early Development Operations, the Manager of Communications will ensure consistency and excellence across all internal and external communications channels and seek to continuously improve/expand communications initiatives in support of the overall communications strategy successfully.
Relationships
Reports to the Director of US R&D Communications.
Essential Functions
  • Conceptualize, create and deploy written and digital content for SharePoint, presentations, internal screens, The Bulletin Novo Nordisk (NN) newsletter, Yammer and other key internal communications channels to support US R&D, including the Lexington, Fremont and Boulder sites
  • Contribute to drafting internal communications on behalf of US R&D from leadership and other key functions within the US R&D footprint
  • Manage cross communications channel editorial calendar to ensure content is timely and reflective of all initiatives occurring across areas of business and is disseminated strategically and in a proactive, coordinated manner
  • Own the Bulletin NN Newsletter, including developing and writing articles, seeking "news" and sourcing information that is interesting and relevant to US R&D employees and distribution
  • Assist with all external communications and public relations initiatives, including social media content creation and management of the social media editorial calendar, website content and other external communications as necessary
  • Manage content on US R&D SharePoint intranet; ensuring content is timely, engaging and visually appealing to intended audiences
  • Manage the US R&D Viva Engage communications channel, including developing creative content and campaigns with the goal of increasing employee adoption and engagement; building key stakeholders' presence on Yammer; and a platform to communicate the latest news and milestones
  • Take lead on US R&D All-Hands meetings, Lexington/Boulder Town Halls and all internal employee events, including contributing to topics and leadership message development, as well as logistics and event execution, in partnership with IT, facilities and administrative staff
  • Assist in developing, managing and maintaining an internal communications strategy and calendar
  • Ensure brand consistency for Novo Nordisk stakeholders
  • Manage internal approvals of various communications
  • Assist with other communications initiatives, as required

Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required. Ability to lift 0-10 lbs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of communications experience
  • Experience in biotech or pharma industry preferred
  • Exceptional writing skills and content development experience to produce engaging, channel-appropriate communications
  • Extremely savvy in understanding and utilizing the latest comms tools and technologies successfully. Must have proven successful experience and examples of managing and creating cutting-edge content for social media
  • "A designer's eye" with the ability to produce and/or guide creation of visually innovative and compelling internal and external communications materials and content
  • Excellent project- and time-management skills
  • Highly collaborative and ready to take direction, but shows clear initiative and capacity to take primary responsibility on certain projects and see them through to completion
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and to deal well with competing priorities, multiple key stakeholders and a changing business environment
  • Self-motivated: capable of anticipating needs/opportunities and rising to meet them
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Experienced in event execution
  • Experienced Adobe Creative Cloud user; photo and video editing capabilities required
  • SharePoint experience required
