Role Summary
The key functions of the Communications Manager are to plan, direct and coordinate the diverse set of marketing & communication activities both personally and through the marketing team; develop and execute marketing and communications plans to ensure the availability and distribution of current and accurate product, program and manufacturing plants marketing presentations and materials, and participate and coordinate with Magna Marketing Leadership and Representatives for uniformity and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop global group PR / Communication Plan; corresponding media materials (incl. but not limited to releases, video releases etc.), media lists, executive briefing books, news releases and holding statements including crafting key product marketing & group messages in concert with the Marketing Team and Corporate Communications.
  • Continuously monitor/measure the market impact of PR activities and relentlessly innovate new ways, incl. all social / digital activation, on how to distribute group news/key messages & stories in order to strengthen the brand and uniquely distinguish the brand from its competition.
  • Manage content requirements for magna.com, including writing new stories, working with external freelancer to develop stories and managing global team to translate content into other languages.
  • Evaluate speaking opportunities and make recommendations for participation. (Project manage deliverables and deadlines for papers and presentations for events we commit to)
  • Evolve and revise messaging architecture with input from subject matter experts to ensure message consistency in all externally facing communications.
  • Coordinate & develop presentation materials/scripts for media events, auto show press conferences, speaking engagements etc.
  • Manage and drive project planner for all events, activations, projects, and communications.

In support of and in conjunction with the Product Line, Innovation and Sales Team, lead regular Marketing Updates to ensure:
  • Appropriate consideration and prioritization of marketing communication opportunities
  • Coordination between product line, innovation, sales, divisional stakeholders and executives
  • Strategies to be as competitive as possible
  • Ensure flawless execution

Education/Skills/Special Knowledge - Strong writing skills a must. Preferred candidate would have experience in a mix of creative and corporate writing along with ability to transform technical descriptions into palatable marketing copy. BA, BS, Masters or MBA in Marketing Communications field.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, Asana, Gain. Strong PowerPoint Skills a must.
Experience - 8+ years' experience in Marketing and/or Communications role
Physical Demands/Work Environment - Normal office work environment. Travel based on events.
