Your Team

Reporting to Echoing Green's senior director of communications, we are seeking a communications manager to share Echoing Green messages and community stories externally. You'll work closely with the digital media team members, thought leadership team, public relations firm, and the organization's spokespeople to develop content that is accessible and compelling. We plan to bring on an additional communications role soon after this hire.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Lead Echoing Green's Content Production

  • Guide Echoing Green's editorial planning. Key activities include leading content brainstorms, scheduling donor content production, working internally to identify editorial content production opportunities, and partnering with the digital team to align digital publishing (newsletters and social media) with the editorial calendar.
  • Source content such as testimonials, event recaps, or Q&A interviews from key stakeholders, including donors, Fellows, and programmatic partners.
  • Thought partner with the digital media team on narrative and fundraising campaign messaging to align with the editorial calendar and organizational objectives
  • Oversee the content production processes for Echoing Green newsletters, blog, press releases, and more
  • Contribute to the team's brand management by ensuring up-to-date writing guidelines and voice and tone guidelines are accessible and used by staff
  • Perform other duties to support Echoing Green's communications function as assigned

Manage the Implementation of Echoing Green's Public Relations Strategy

  • Provide internal spokesperson support, including pitching for speaking opportunities, briefing for high-profile events, and vetting and tracking external opportunities
  • Ensure organization's content, collateral, and talking points align to key messaging and briefing database
  • Manage the organization's public relations firm with strategic support from the communications senior director and thought leadership team. This includes vetting media requests, leading weekly media meetings, ensuring content aligns with Echoing Green's voice, and partnering with the firm to connect staff and Fellows with media opportunities.
  • Become a trusted resource to staff who will provide strategic thought partnership and execution across internal team projects such as promoting programs and impact storytelling collateral

Project Manage Vendor and Consultant Relationships

  • Lead content strategy implementation for special projects, such as long-form videos, content collection at events, annual reports, and collateral

Requirements

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Social Justice Orientation: Familiarity and enthusiasm for developing asset-based content that includes social identities such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and class
  • Skilled Storyteller: Accessible and compelling writer who can develop content for different audiences, from general to expert (e.g., senior staff, Fellows, external gathering participants, peers). Skilled in developing communications that reflect an organization's unique voice and brand
  • Project Management: Ability to plan, document, prioritize, and collaborate with teams for multidisciplinary content production-proven experience developing and implementing communications strategies and project plans, preferably in a mission-driven organization
  • Sharp Prioritization: Solution-seeking, curious, and flexible; able to assess and manage multiple, at times competing, priorities in a fast-paced organization
  • Technology: Previous experience with Adobe Creative Suite and CMS platforms a plus
  • Human-Centered Approach: Commitment to collaboration, curiosity, and seeking solutions

Benefits

Base Salary: $84,000/year

Echoing Green offers a full benefits package designed to support employee wellness. This includes:

While our office is located in New York City this person selected for this role can work anywhere in the U.S. The candidate must physically reside in the U.S. by the time of hire.
