Roles and Responsibilities:

MITRE is seeking a skilled technical individual to apply their computer engineering or electrical engineering background to turn user needs into real-time solutions; assist in creating new ways to rapidly deliver mission value through automation; define new approaches to complex problems; and develop proofs of concept and prototypes. You'll also perform studies and analyses to support decisions by our sponsors, evaluate emerging capabilities, and provide independent technical advice.

This position engages with the project team, seeking to understand both mission and technical challenges. They are expected to collaborate with a diverse set of engineers from multiple MITRE locations to address those challenges using human centered and mission engineered approaches.

Candidates will:

• Develop and maintain trusted relationships with peers across company laboratories, work programs, and portfolios.
• Apply state of the art techniques, using tools and compute environments to drive advances in mission capabilities for sponsor and internal MITRE projects.
• Analyze business needs and existing technical implementations to identify and/or build innovative technical solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical field and 2 years of experience or a master's degree and relevant experience in network engineering or a related field
• Active Secret with ability to obtain maintain TS
• Demonstrated technical knowledge and application of engineering concepts
• Demonstrated communication skills
• Technical background in a specific technical domain (e.g. network engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, distributed systems design, enterprise systems development, communications engineering)
• Experience with enterprise IT systems, network architectures, communications architectures, and design methodologies
• Ability to work within a cross functional team to define requirements and reference designs to provide expert analysis on potential solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's or PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical field
• 2 to 4 years of experience in network engineering or a related field
• Technical expertise in multiple technical domains (e.g. network engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, distributed systems design, enterprise systems development, communications engineering)
• Ability to guide a cross functional team and drive the definition of requirements and reference designs across multiple projects
• Ability to prioritize work based on need and timelines across multiple projects
• Demonstrated skills for effectively communicating with senior leaders
