POSITION SUMMARY:

The Grayken Center for Addiction at BMC is looking for an enthusiastic Communications Project Manager to manage our external and internal communications. The Communications Project Manager will work with faculty and staff at the Grayken Center, and other departments at BMC, to design communications strategies and products for a wide variety of audiences. Candidates should have strong writing skills, experience with designing patient/consumer facing materials, and time management skills.

A member of the Grayken Center for Addiction, the Communications Project Manager will support all internal and select external initiatives at the Grayken Center for Addiction. Reporting to Grayken leadership and working closely with other departments throughout the hospital and health plan, the Communications Project Manager will develop a thorough understanding of the Center's strategic objectives and communicate them in accessible ways to a range of target audiences.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Develops compelling ideas, approaches, and content that conveys the Grayken Center's key strengths, priorities, accomplishments, and positions to a wide range of internal and external audiences.
  • Oversees the development and execution of communications tools and publications, including hospital intranet, newsletters, fact sheets, web page, signage, etc.
  • Helps ensure focus on evidence-based practice and stigma-free language is conveyed consistently across communications channels.
  • Serves as content manager for internal communications, including maintaining editorial calendars, developing, collecting, and editing content for newsletters and the intranet, and generating and maintaining a database of content to be used as needed.
  • Is an active contributor on the social media committee, regularly surfacing ideas related to internal communications, recognition, and engagement.
  • Represents the department at key meetings, providing strategic counsel to internal stakeholders.
  • Plans and executes virtual and in-person meetings and events, end to end.
  • Analyzes and measures the performance of internal communications materials and display them in quarterly dashboard with suggested improvements
  • Monitors and updates System communications channels regularly to keep them fresh and engaging.
  • Partners with system stakeholders to create organic, engaging content for employees and patients/members
  • Supports content for educational and leadership meetings; drafts materials and presentations as needed.
  • Works with a wide variety of internal audiences (including leadership and front line staff) to source and develop original content.
  • Assists with the creation and maintenance of corporate materials and publications, and manages production with vendors and internal partners as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Degree in journalism, communications, public relations or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years communications experience, with health care experience preferred.

Knowledge + Skills:

  • Superior writing and communications skills, attention to detail.
  • Experience with web development and design
  • LucidPress/Marq experience preferred
  • Knowledge regarding addiction treatment preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to conceive, research and develop original content.
  • Proven ability to adapt content to various audiences and formats.
  • Ability to understand and translate specialized information (e.g. clinical, scientific, policy) in a creative and interesting manner.
  • Must have strong relationship-building and diplomacy skills and ability to collaborate across functions and departments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-faceted communications team.
