Communications Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Communications Specialist to assist the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) with integrated strategic planning support. The Communications Specialist supports the development and execution of internal and external communication strategies, ensuring alignment with CBP OFO strategic objectives. This is an outstanding opportunity to support CBP OFO’s mission to secure the border while facilitating lawful trade and travel that supports our national economy.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellent writing skills, with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, translate complicated issues into a clear point of view, and create a compelling, concise and well-written narrative. 
• Draft and edit communication materials, including strategic plans, reports, and digital content.
• Adhere to team quality assurance measures to develop high-quality, error-free materials and deliverables. 
• Assist in the execution of communication campaigns and initiatives. Coordinate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts, providing insights for improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to obtain CBP Suitability
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English or Business
• 3 years’ experience drafting, editing, and proofreading communications products including strategic plans, reports, and social media content

Preferred Qualifications

• CBP suitability within the last 36 months.
