Communications Strategist (VOLPE/SCOAR)

The Communications Strategist will work as part of a passionate and mission driven consulting team supporting the Volpe National Transportations Systems Center in Cambridge, MA.  In this role the Communications Strategist will provide support across the areas of marketing and communications, including writing and editing, marketing and product strategy, brand management, public and community relations, email communications, social media engagement, and web marketing strategy and design. Support will also include program analysis support and developing, creating, and producing business and technical reports, brochures, and other publications and related materials for transportation projects.

Please note that while this is a 100% remote full-time position ,but local candidates and those geographically nearest to Cambridge, MA are highly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop present, and execute strategies and project plans, identifying problem areas and recommending resolutions including, crafting and presenting pitches to clients, collaborating with graphic design professionals on crafting and applying a consistent visual identity
  • Lead integrated communication campaigns
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams supporting public affairs activities, creative design, internal and executive communications, media outreach, publication production, digital engagement, educational materials, and other content for print, multimedia, and the Web
  • Research, write, and edit a wide array of materials, including meeting minutes, end-user instructions, business processes, marketing and communications materials, and program documentation
  • Copywriting for web, social media, print, and digital collateral
  • Assisting senior team members in communicating with client constituents, facilitating the identification and resolution of problems, assisting with logical analysis, ensuring consistency of written products and procedures, coordinating input on software modules, program documents, research materials, and communications deliverables, and handling support requests
  • Producing plans and schedules and managing overall program of conference activity
  • Coordinating logistics requirements and integration of other required services

Requirements:

  • US Work Authorization
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing, or related discipline, master’s degree a plus
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience writing and editing, working with graphics, and marketing, web copy and production
  • Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, and able to work on multiple diverse tasks
  • Demonstrate experience or high interest in working within the professional services industry (consulting) and able to interface with clients on a daily basis
  • Expert use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
