Your Opportunity

We are looking for a talented Community Development (CD) Leader in Rochester, New York who wants to be part of a purpose-driven organization that's focused on helping our clients, colleagues and communities thrive. The CD Leader is a "seller/doer" responsible for leading the pursuit and delivery of excellent work to our clients. Accountable for the top line, you would lead the growth of the group's and Stantec's market position while providing innovative design solutions with exceptional quality and execution that exceed client expectations.
This position reports to the Regional Business Leader (RBL) and contributes to the business development activities within the BC, including direct supervision of team members who are highly engaged in winning work, driving design excellence, and growing market presence. You would be a member of the BC leadership team (BCOL, BCPL's and Principals) to lead and manage, inspire and engage, win and do work - building a culturally strong and high performing business.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Client Focus & Project Focus:
- Plans, organizes, and directs the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client.
- Drive client relationship strategy in partnership with the BC leadership team.
- Maintain and strengthen client relationships and play a key role in client management and satisfaction.
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate the technical aspects of projects for the team.
- Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of other professionals who assist in specific assignments
- Collaborate with BC leadership team to develop and manage the marketing and business development (M&BD) plan.
- Pursue, win, lead and deliver work across North America with a focus on the northeast and southeast of the US.
- Support business development and marketing initiatives including strategic planning, opportunity identification, proposal pursuit and preparation, client liaison, preparation of on-line marketing content and social media monitoring.
- Partner with other CD leaders to drive collaboration on pursuits across geographies and disciplines.
- Contribute to the thought leadership and brand of Stantec, by sharing our knowledge and innovation stories at key client engagements, industry events and across our professional networks.
- Leads growth of the CD group through developing and leading the business development, key pursuit and sales strategy and holds others accountable to expand our reach and client base utilizing strong marketing, business development, sales account management plans.
- Responsible for developing and managing the marketing and business development (M&BD) plan for the CD group including cross selling.
- Increases visibility of Stantec by sharing our knowledge and innovation story through key client engagements to enhance our reputation and drive revenue.
- Partners with other leaders to drive collaboration on pursuits across geographies and business lines
- Support BC leadership team with developing, attracting, engaging and retaining top talent.
- Establish employee connectedness to leadership by interfacing frequently with employees.
- Support the overall talent management lifecycle including career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development for the BC.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Diverse design and project management experience in any or all of the following markets: municipal, county or state infrastructure, private development, planning or landscape design.
- Demonstrated design expertise and leadership on major projects.
- Experience with responding to Requests for Proposals, Expression of Interests, Statement of Qualifications.
- Strong business development skills, including significant experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a client base.
- Strong seller-doer capable of generating work and creating long-term relationships and delivering long-term value to clients for Stantec.
- An entrepreneurial orientation with strong understanding of the business development challenges of a consulting-services provider.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization, coordination, leadership, team-building and managerial skills.
- Knowledge of market assessment techniques, insights, and contacts.
- Proven success in developing new clients and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Travel to other offices as well as to project sites may be required.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, landscape architecture or equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum 15 years' relevant experience, leadership, financial management, business development and consulting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Licenses/Certifications: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Landscape Architect (LA)
