The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for developing and implementing community engagement strategies to cultivate positive brand awareness, deepen Bank of Marin's (and its employees') connection to our communities, and bring Bank of Marin's philanthropic philosophy to life. This position will be a key representative of the Bank in the community, working with regional teams to foster and nurture relationships with community stakeholders - nonprofit and economic development organizations, government agencies, and corporate partners. Additionally, the Community Engagement Manager is expected to develop and execute community events strategies to establish a clear presence in the communities we serve. This individual should demonstrate a high level of strategic thinking and have the ability to manage the execution of key initiatives. Strong interpersonal skills and extensive knowledge of the nonprofit sector are a must.

This position is responsible for building relationships with and between the Bank's clients, employees, and community partners, positioning the Bank as a business resource for the local economy and committed member of the community, and will be responsible for developing the Bank's corporate giving strategy and implementing guidelines to identify key community partners and evaluate charitable contributions. Ensuring well-balanced contribution plans addressing a diverse set of needs in our communities.

The Community Engagement Manager will be responsible for advising regional leadership teams on how to best engage with their respective markets through corporate giving, community events, and volunteer programs. The Community Engagement Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing an employee engagement plan focused on recognizing employees and promoting participation in local community organizations and events, including placing bank officers on community boards and coordinating group volunteer opportunities.

This position will oversee the implementation of the Bank's annual employee giving campaign, ensuring precise mechanisms are in place to track, measure and report on the impact of the Bank's philanthropic efforts, ensuring that appropriate documentation is maintained to meet regulatory requirements for reporting on adherence to the Community Reinvestment Act.

The Community Engagement Manager will lead the planning and execution of the Bank's signature community events, such as the Spirit of Marin, and will manage the community events calendar, including scheduling, promotion and regional team participation. This position will be responsible for managing event and community sponsorship budgets and work closely with internal partners to ensure proper documentation, reporting, contracts, and legal requirements specific to events and sponsorships.

This position will collaborate with marketing teammates to develop a communications plan and marketing materials to share Bank of Marin's community impact both internally and externally.

Professional/Educational Experience:

  • 5- 7 years related experience and/or training.
  • Superior writing and editing expertise. Strong administrative, operational, and organizational skills are essential. Excellent coordination and communication (oral and written) skills, active listening, problem-solving, and relationship skills are necessary.
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • Requires advanced knowledge of MS office software (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and some knowledge of database management, project management and event management software.
  • Knowledge of Adobe InDesign software is a plus.
  • Proven ability to deliver a complex message effectively: rejection of contribution request, withdrawal from Board Seat, discuss negative news associated with a community partner
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with department leaders and other business units.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in a complementary field; or equivalent combination of experience and/or training. Related Master's Degree from an accredited institution is a plus.

The hiring pay range for this position is $91,045 - $134,174. In addition to the pay range listed, all bank positions are eligible for incentive compensation, which varies based on role. The pay rate for a successful applicant depends on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
