Community Engagement Specialist
Job Description
Principal responsibilities:
- Executes programs that meet community needs in Avnet's focus areas
- Organizes and implements volunteer events in the communities where employees live and work
- Manages quarterly grant-making efforts with Charitable Governance Committee in the Americas according to budget and supports parallel efforts in regions
- Creates and distributes content, both internally and externally, that supports Avnet's brand and communicates the company's impact
- Builds and maintains relationships with both employees and members of the community in Avnet's key locations in the U.S. and internationally
- Drives best practices and standards in community engagement and giving with regional counterparts and leadership
- Supports Avnet's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) communications efforts by assisting with the annual sustainability report and external website content
Required skills/experience:
- 3-5 years experience in communications or marketing, either in in-house or agency settings (technology experience preferred)
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Ability to build relationships across business units and cultures, virtually and in-person
- Sound judgment and commitment to integrity
- Strong time and task management, operates with a sense of urgency and values timeliness
- Writing, editing and proofreading
- Ability to coordinate and align feedback from internal stakeholders
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects, working across time zones as needed
