Job Summary:
The Community Inclusion Lender is responsible for engaging individuals, communities to increase awareness of Southern's loan products, financial development services to low, and moderate-income borrowers as well as communities that historically had less access to resources.
Through Relationship Building, Impact Counseling, and Developmental Lending, the Community Inclusion Lender aims to improve awareness and overall financial acumen in targeted markets, to provide credit counseling, training, and program support. Assists in recruiting for all programs, facilitate economic skills classes, and assist with other financial education training sessions.

Through Relationship Building, Impact Counseling, and Developmental Lending, the Community Inclusion Lender aims to improve awareness and overall financial acumen in targeted markets, to provide credit counseling, training, and program support. Assists in recruiting for all programs, facilitate economic skills classes, and assist with other financial education training sessions.
Relationship Building:
- Generate loan volume through building relationships with community partner organizations, bankers
- Engage in creative collaborations with small business support organizations
- Develop new clients and partners through active marketing and outreach to build awareness for SBCP'S lending products and business development services
- Engage in business development for small businesses with a focus on outreach to Minority Owned Firms
- Travel throughout the market to meet with bankers, community partners and clients as part of business development activities
- Represent SBCP at industry events and informational forums - find opportunities for SBCP to participate in these types of events in the market
- Identify and provide technical assistance, education and training needs of prospective clients and connect them with appropriate resources
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to SBCP's mission of serving a diverse community of business owners
Impact Counseling:
- Conduct credit counseling, financial, and related training and information programs for local community groups and residents.
- Manage the overall efforts to make community members aware of credit programs available at Southern.
- Provide one-on-one credit counseling.
- Assist with and/or produce accurate grant and certifier reporting as needed.
Lending & Portfolio Management:
- Screen applications for fit with underwriting parameters
- Perform basic cash flow, collateral, and conditions analysis
- Develop a strong understanding of SBCPs different loan products and programs
- Work closely with the underwriting and closing teams to ensure deal completion
- Portfolio management, which includes compliance, regular communication with clients regarding account status, and monitoring performance of loans
- Completes all required training
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned
Education and Experience
- Three or more years banking or lending experience or demonstrated outside sales/business development experience
- Experience working with historically under-resourced and marginalized communities
- Experience with community/economic development and a people-oriented sales mindset
- Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related field is a plus
Other skills and knowledge
- Knowledge of business financial statements and tax returns
- Experience performing financial analysis
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and phone presence
- Experience with impact investing and social impact driven business development
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM Systems
- Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred
- Driver's license, vehicle and insurance for reimbursed road travel related to job duties

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. Must occasionally stand and walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision. May be required to lift or move up to 5 pounds occasionally
