Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Community Manager who can bring their passion and rigor to help level up our online community platform, Gusto Connect.

About Gusto

Gusto is a modern, online people platform that helps small businesses take care of their teams. On top of full-service payroll, Gusto offers health insurance, 401(k)s, expert HR, and team management tools. Today, Gusto offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York serve more than 200,000 businesses nationwide.

The Community Manager will be responsible for managing our day-to-day online community platform, Gusto Connect, engaging existing members with current and new initiatives, and helping drive the adoption and retention of Gusto. This role will be part of community-building, part community-management.

The Head of Community and Education will empower your day-to-day role. Your teammates will include subject matter experts and marketers. We believe that the best marketing efforts are without silos, and you can expect to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams representing Marketing, Product, Sales, Revenue Operations, and Customer Experience.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Drive projects and initiatives that support community operations – maintain the systems, tools, and programs needed for the community to thrive.
  • Monitor and manage the day-to-day administration of Gusto Connect, our online community space for Gusto Accountant Partners.
  • Moderate our online forums and foster positive conversations. Leverage topics generated by the community to generate relevant and engaging discussions.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ideate, create and publish content to further support or promote the Gusto brand.
  • Manage our community platform calendar and keep our operations manual updated.
  • Support tracking and reporting on community results to assess program effectiveness
  • Drive our rewards program and our swag vendor relationship.
  • Coordinate monthly Zoom webinars on trending topics with cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate and manage research discussions to collect insights from our community.
  • Dig into community platform data, and find ways to improve user experience, targeting, and program metrics.
  • Build competitive analyses to uncover new opportunities as well as present solutions.

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 2-5 years of experience with managing and moderating both online and offline communities
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Results-driven with strong initiative and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively with all cross-functional teams
  • Capacity to learn, adapt and apply ideas in fast-paced environments
  • Passion for digital community and community building
  • Major bonus points:
    •  If you have experience working with the accountant/CPA community
    •  If you have experience working with Influitive's AdvocateHub® platform

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $100-140/hr depending on location and experience. Estimated workload is 20 hours per week for 6 months. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amount listed above.

Our customers come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it makes our company stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for small businesses, you will find a home at Gusto.
