Job Summary
This position is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining cooperative relationships with the assigned population and their advocates within the community; to educate, train, research and resolve problems, provide assistance and information. This position is also responsible for special projects and maintaining community contacts. Responsible for developing and executing a variety of community engagement activities, effectively maximizing community investment resources with the knowledge, and understanding of multiple lines of business, products, and functional area goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and maintain contacts and groups within an assigned territory to meet departmental/individual goals. Serve as a resource to the community and providers representing the company in a public capacity.
- Participate in community events such as health fairs, local and state fairs, expos, and other relevant community events to promote HCSC's services and programs and to be a resource on Medicaid and insurance.
- Identify new prospects within a territory via networking, direct mail, referral and personal contact. Cultivate and maintain a working relationship with various federal, state and community entities i.e., hospitals, churches, park districts, libraries, colleges, clubs, and organizations. Maintain a detailed directory of same.
- Support plans for the implementation of communications activities for targeted or general audiences utilizing flyers, pamphlets, posters, newsletters, presentation literature, direct mail, PowerPoint presentations, speeches, exhibition booths, and special promotions.
Required Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in health care or Business Administration OR 4 years work experience in insurance environment.
- 4 years health care administration experience.
- Knowledge of the health care industry.
- Interpersonal, analytical, presentation and communication skills.
- Organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Ability to travel, including overnight stays.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Ability to speak and write Spanish.
- PC proficiency to include Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Community outreach expertise working with Latino communities.
- Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
- Experience influencing the decision-making process.
- Experience handling sensitive, confidential information; adept at handling situations with political appropriateness and sensitivity while influencing positive outcomes
- Media training and experience serving as a company spokesperson and the Spanish media.
