COMMUNITY CHAMPION

We're on the lookout for a dynamic individual to be the face of Sandia Area in the community as our Community Relations Manager! As a financial champion, you'll play a crucial role in helping our members achieve financial success. Represent Sandia Area at various community events, coordinate programs, and lead exciting volunteer activities to boost membership and enhance member services.

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE

This role is full time, but it's not your typical 9-5! Create your own schedule based on events throughout Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and beyond! You'll be flexing those superhero muscles at business development events, philanthropic activities, networking events, and fairs - morning, noon, or night!

You'll also be running financial education sessions at schools, branches, and with community partners. Oh, and the best part - you get to spread the Sandia Area love on the move, traveling throughout our service area! (Pssst, mileage reimbursement is on us!)

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for cultivating relationships within the direct communities we serve. Delivers on strategic goals and objectives of the Credit Union by developing partnership opportunities, proactively handling relationships, supporting financial education initiatives, and planning and carrying out promotions and community outreach efforts. Maintains relationships with contacts at community organizations. Through those relationships, involves credit union in community events, promotes credit union, highlights benefits of membership, and builds/maintains credit union brand awareness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensures visible presence in local community. Promotes the credit union through visible participation in business, community, charitable organizations, and activities.
  2. Responsible for the development of relationships with prospective members and increasing relationships with current members through engagement and implementation of community relations tactics, including community involvement, youth programs, and financial educations.
  3. Assists in the creation of strategies and budgets to meet membership growth and community penetration goals.
  4. Speaks on behalf of the Credit Union at community events; maintains relationships with key community representatives from educational and community organizations, non-profit groups, and businesses.
  5. Identifies community involvement opportunities and determines which are the most appropriate and beneficial to pursue.
  6. As the credit union's primary link to the community, provides a constant flow of feedback from community and business leaders.
  7. Develops, plans, coordinates, facilitates and evaluates workshops, educational seminars, retail marketing events and presentations to increase credit union membership and promote product and service usage.
  8. Acts as champion for financial education. Designs, develops/acquires and delivers fun, engaging, and meaningful financial literacy curriculums to a wide variety of community organizations. Cultivates business/education partnerships, assess audience needs and present targeted programs to schools, businesses, and community organizations.
  9. Provides information on credit union products and services to current and potential members according to all credit union policies and procedures.
  10. Directs financial literacy efforts through member and community seminars, school partnerships, and other opportunities to increase the financial well-being of current and potential members.
  11. Develops tactical calendar and budget for youth program to increase membership and relationships within the segment. Plans and implements activities for the program, including hosted events, school activities and partnerships with youth organizations.
  12. Engages employees throughout the organization in community, youth and financial education programs. Provides training for community programs. Oversees the employee volunteer program, including tracking activities and ongoing incentives.
  13. Act as a liaison and advisor to branch managers to create new business development strategies and tactics for their individual markets.
  14. Participates in the development of marketing material used for business development efforts.
  15. As new initiatives are introduced, work with Marketing to develop messaging strategies for existing and prospective business partners.
  16. Requires schedule flexibility for evening and weekend activities. Scheduling flexibility to occasionally work after 5 pm and/or before 8 am and to travel regionally by car.
  17. Responsible for special projects and other duties as assigned by management.
  18. Provides monthly reporting detailing all efforts and results. Tracks and reports on progress and success.
  19. Responsible for analysis of the community relations programs, making recommendations to management when required.
  20. Attends trade shows and promotional opportunities as needed.
  21. Collaborates with Marketing on collateral and promotions to further engagement with the university community.
  22. Create and customize presentations and other sales materials in coordination with Marketing.
  23. Maintain Partner database.
  24. Meets deadlines as assigned and directed.
  25. Maintains a positive and caring atmosphere for members and employees consistent with the Credit Union's mission and philosophy.
  26. Maintains the security and confidentiality of pertinent information and records.
  27. Understands and agrees to abide by the policies and procedures established by Sandia Area Federal Credit Union and federal and state legal and regulatory guidelines, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), as applicable to this position.
  28. Performs additional duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Ability to work independently on multiple projects, demonstrating attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  2. Willing to engage difficult situations using outstanding interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence both inside and outside the organization.
  3. Enjoys public speaking and addressing and engaging diverse groups.
  4. Passion for and understanding of effective community involvement and outreach/engagement methods, including event organizing, public relations, marketing and public speaking.
  5. Ability to communicate and present clear and concise ideas, while building trust and credibility all levels within and outside the organization.
  6. Presents a professional appearance and demeanor among peers, management and in the community.
  7. Proficient Spanish language skills useful.
  8. Proficient use of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. As well as virtual programs to run online webinars.
  9. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  2. 5+ years of professional account management or business development experience.
  3. Event management experience, including planning, budgeting, vendor management, and reporting.
  4. Experience giving presentations and speaking in public to large audiences.
  5. Knowledge of account management, general marketing and sales principles.
  6. Exemplary oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  7. Exceptional time management, organizational, attention to detail, multi-tasking and public speaking abilities;
  8. Financial services experience, desirable;
  9. Valid driver's license and access to a car for travel through the county.
