The Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Compliance and VAT Specialist with experience in the beauty and personal care industry. This role will specifically support the Amazon department of Kitsch, ensuring all products comply with global regulatory standards, including proper labeling, product testing, and VAT/tax filings in key markets such as CA, UK, EU, and AU. The ideal candidate will proactively address compliance-related issues, such as wrongful takedowns, and bring expertise in the unique regulatory requirements of beauty and personal care products.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all beauty and personal care products meet labeling standards and testing requirements specific to CA, UK, EU, and AU markets.
  • Collaborate with the product development team to verify packaging, ingredients, and certifications comply with marketplace and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage documentation for product safety and quality certifications.
  • Oversee VAT registration, filings, and reporting for operations in CA, UK, EU, and AU.
  • Monitor changes in tax regulations across regions and advise on necessary adjustments to remain compliant.
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
  • Partner closely with the Amazon selling department to ensure compliance with Amazon’s policies, including proper documentation and accurate product listings
  • Proactively monitor for and address compliance-related issues, such as wrongful product takedowns, flagged listings, or regulatory disputes on Amazon.
  • Stay updated on global regulatory requirements for beauty and personal care products, including new laws and standards.
  • Manage compliance for claims, ingredient restrictions, and required certifications specific to the beauty industry.
  • Develop and implement SOPs for product compliance, VAT/tax processes, and marketplace policies.
  • Train internal teams on global regulatory requirements, Amazon policies, and best practices for marketplace compliance.

  
Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Regulatory Affairs, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in compliance, VAT/tax filing, or regulatory roles in the beauty and personal care industry.
  • Strong understanding of beauty product regulations, including safety testing, labeling, and claims compliance, in CA, UK, EU, and AU markets.
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms, particularly Amazon, is a significant bonus.
  • Proficient in VAT and tax requirements for global markets.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven ability to resolve compliance disputes effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
