We’re looking for a business-minded Compliance Counsel to join our global SaaS company and growing legal team. This attorney will report to the Product & Compliance Managing Counsel and will serve in a leading compliance role in the organization. They will be responsible for providing legal guidance related to global compliance and help develop standards and operationalize compliance policies that support the maturation and expansion of Fivetran’s compliance infrastructure. This role has the potential for huge impact and increasing responsibilities across our growing global company. The successful candidate will possess strong business acumen, have a right-sized risk calculus built from experience, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

We are seeking a talented compliance lawyer with a process and operations-orientation to help educate and build the business as Fivetran scales. As a member of the Legal team you will contribute to building and scaling a world-class legal organization. You will contribute to legal compliance within the Company and with legislative and regulatory requirements by assisting with the build, maintenance and improvement of global compliance programs at Fivetran. This will include staying informed of peer company best practices and relevant global legal developments, analyzing their applicability to the company's activities and objectives and advising on how to promote the company's goals while complying with applicable regulations. Your expertise will help drive creative, customer-focused, practical and proactive legal guidance enabling the Company to execute on its goals, objectives, mission, vision and values in a compliant and ethical way.

Fivetran is a start-up company where everyone rolls up their sleeves and digs in to work, and this role is no different. This role can be based remotely, or out of one of Fivetran’s US offices.

What You'll Do

  • Provide legal counsel on and support the continued development, implementation, and operation of Fivetran’s compliance programs reflecting the organization’s unique characteristics, and further develop policies and procedures related to ethics, export control, and anti-corruption to encourage a culture of compliance with rules and regulations
  • Build on your knowledge and understanding of compliance risk management practices and methodologies, including risk assessments, monitoring/surveillance, and testing activities
  • Rely on strong organizational and interpersonal skills to partner cross-functionally, counsel effectively, and inspire support for legal/compliance within the Company
  • Creatively solve problems, be strategic, and enable the business to take calculated and informed risks
  • Assist with the operation of, and improvements to, the Company’s global sanctions program
  • Conduct internal investigations of compliance issues, business partner and government inquiries, and handle responses and resolution; assist with overseeing compliance hotline monitoring, responses, resolutions and reports
  • Conduct periodic compliance training and related programs to foster a culture of compliance
  • Keep up to date on changes in compliance regulations, legislation, and market expectations
  • Approach challenges with an operational and process-oriented mindset, with an appreciation that over time, superior processes lead to better outcomes

Skills We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting compliance program growth for a global company and the ability to continue improving Fivetran’s global compliance programs by drafting effective policies, procedures and documentation
  • Comfort with fast-paced environments and change management
  • Ability to demonstrate a track record of success working with cross-functional teams on compliance projects and advising on day to day questions about legal compliance requirements
  • Conceive and implement changes and improvements in compliance programs
  • Embody superior communication, project management, relationship-building, and leadership skills to accomplish the mission
  • Additional experience gained from a background in IP or litigation, or from working in a government regulatory body is a plus.

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the target position and level. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Our job titles may span more than one career level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, business need, market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your location during the hiring process.


This range represents base salary only and does not include incentive for sales roles, equity, or  benefits, if applicable. 

Pay Range
$118,854—$142,625 USD
