Corvus, the leading provider of smart commercial insurance products powered by AI-driven risk data, is looking to add a Counsel, Compliance to support the internal and external stakeholders in compliance matters. The Counsel, Compliance will be responsible for helping lead the compliance program at Corvus and provide counsel to internal stakeholders on regulatory and compliance matters. Depending on qualifications or experience, this position may be eligible for a Senior Counsel, Compliance position. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be ultimately responsible for all individual and entity adjuster and producer licensing
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on changes to statutes, regulations, or industry trends
  • Provide legal and regulatory advice to internal stakeholders on compliance or regulatory matters
  • Manage internal claim and underwriting audit processes
  • Manage with external regulatory or risk capital partner audits 
  • Develop and Implement corporate compliance policies 
  • Understand current operational processes and explore ways to improve as we continue to grow
  • Responsible for implementation, monitoring and reporting on results of assigned special projects
  • Drive employee engagement by exhibiting passion about the company, values, business and our customers
  • May manage another team member
  • May perform other legal duties as assigned, including but not limited to, contract and NDA review
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Law (J.D.)
  • Licensed and in good standing as an active member of the bar in at least one state
  • Minimum of five years Insurance experience
  • Exceptional technical compliance knowledge of insurance business including underwriting, claim, legal, and regulatory issues for admitted and non-admitted lines 
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills as well as strong organizational and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment with a strong focus on teamwork
  • Proven record of working independently, managing competing priorities, meeting deadlines and adding value
  • Demonstrated record of collaborative relationships with customers, subordinates, senior management and external business partners
  • Detail and execution oriented
  • Prior management experience a plus
