Job Description

The Role
As a Licensing Specialist at Green Thumb Industries Inc., you will be responsible for drafting and submitting license renewal applications across the business as well as tracking all cannabis licenses across the business. You will collaborate with the compliance and legal teams, as well as cross-functionally, on all projects related to licensing. Our ideal candidate is one with 4+ years of applicable experience in licensing who is comfortable working with ambiguity and invigorated by the challenge of licensing in a new and highly regulated industry!
Responsibilities
  • Initiate cannabis license renewals and organize materials for submission to state and local regulatory agencies
  • Track cannabis license renewals post-submission and process monthly status reports for senior staff
  • Provide physical copies of licenses and license-related data for vendor requests and new market application submissions
  • Notify regulatory agencies of ownership changes
  • Maintain an up-to-date database and records of all state and local cannabis licenses, permits, and certificates for all retail and wholesale facilities
  • Maintain an up-to-date secure database of all Directors and Officers and entity data for licensing purposes
  • Ensure facilities receive all cannabis licenses in a timely manner to post on-site at the facilities
  • Work with outside counsel, as needed, for license renewals, Director and Officer registrations, M&A activity, and ownership updates
  • Distribute inquiries from regulatory agencies to appropriate internal points of contact, gather responses, and submit back to regulators accordingly
  • Participate in cross-departmental projects and provide expertise on all things related to licenses as needed
  • Additional roles and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
  • 4+ years experience in licensing, highly regulated industry experience preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years in cannabis industry preferred
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Paralegal certification preferred
  • Notary of the public preferred
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness
  • Comfortable working with a degree of ambiguity
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information
  • Must have a solid understanding of the laws, rules and regulations applicable to the cannabis industry and passion to further your understanding and knowledge of the industry and the laws.

Additional Requirements
  • Must pass any and all required background checks
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
  • Must possess valid driver's license
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Must be approved by state badging agency to work in cannabis industry
