About the Position:
Our client, a leading space robotics company, is looking for a Composite Engineer to design and analyze structural and mechanical components for lunar landers. As part of Astrobotic's Planetary Landers Team, you will be part of history-making efforts to return America to the Moon and beyond. The role involves developing composite designs, analyzing their performance, and implementing the full engineering development cycle. You will regularly report to the Mechanical Systems Lead on progress.
Qualifications:
-B.S. in Material Science, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
-2+ years of experience with composites
-Experience with composite laminate design, material and component testing of composites
-Proficiency with CAD and lifecycle management tools (SolidWorks & Teamcenter preferred)
-Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
Requirements:
-M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (desired)
-5+ years of experience with composites (desired)
-Hands-on fabrication experience of composite components (desired)
-Experience with Advanced manufacturing techniques such as Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) and Out-Of-Autoclave (OOF) (desired)
-Experience correlating analysis predictions to test results and failure modes (desired)
-Understanding of Non-Destructive Testing/Evaluation (NDT/NDE) (desired)
-Salary Range: $70,000- $115,000
