Daikin Applied is seeking a talented and eager Compressor Designer III. The Compressor Designer III will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage BOMs. In this role, you will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost has been considered. Location: On-site in Staunton, VA

What you will do:

• Create engineering documentation including SolidWorks, modeling, fabrication and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards
• Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation
• Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules
• Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills
• Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost effectiveness
• Complete work assignments within a determined time frame and use judgment in determining assignment goals
• Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products
• Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic
• Be part of and function in a team environment including cross functional and inter-departmental teams

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in design/drafting
• 4+ years of related design experience in compressor design and/or HVAC products
• Ability to travel up to 10%
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position
