Department Summary:

MITRE is seeking a Computational Intelligence Analyst to join the Performance and Solutions Engineering Department

The Performance and Solutions Engineering Department, within the MITRE Center for Securing the Homeland (CSH), applies broad Homeland Security, Intelligence, and Federal Law Enforcement expertise, domain awareness (understanding how a domain operates and interacts within their environment and how they could impact the security, safety, economy, or the environment), a deep understanding of operational tradecraft, and a deep understanding of our sponsor's challenges to develop and advance innovative sociotechnical solutions which enable current and future homeland security operations from the tactical to enterprise levels. The CSH provides systems engineering and integration support to planning, programming, acquisition (including concept exploration and early prototyping), and evaluation capabilities for homeland security.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Working with experienced teams in work efforts that may include:

  • Leading projects through the project, system, or acquisition life cycle, including conceptualization, requirements definition, development, integration, and deployment and operations and sustainment
  • Leading teams or providing technical leadership for work products or outcomes
  • Supporting research, development and application of analytic frameworks to clarify operational objectives, preferences, dependencies, and uncertainty.
  • Working with stakeholders and end-users to understand mission/operational needs and develop data collection and analysis plans and validation methods.
  • Extracting knowledge and insights from data in order to investigate complex problems through a range of data preparation, modeling, analysis and/or visualization techniques, including predictive analysis, mission or domain awareness and intelligence, pattern recognition, or operational effectiveness.
  • Applying sound analytic methods and proven tools, e.g., operations research, statistics, or other modeling techniques, to achieve well-rationalized or optimized solutions to complex decision problems
  • Managing data as a strategic asset throughout its full lifecycle from collection, normalization, transformation, validation, use, archival and disposal by leveraging best practices addressing data topics including: strategy, governance, architecture, requirements, quality, security, engineering, metadata management, cleansing, analytic preparation, cataloging, profiling, planning, privacy, security, visualization, analysis, programming, management, modeling, accessibility, integration, administration, provenance, warehousing, information sharing, knowledge management, records management, business intelligence, and analytics.
  • Working in dynamic settings where task objectives may evolve or need to be shaped or creative solutions to task impediments must be identified

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government clearance.
  • 3+ years of related job experience
  • Strong critical thinking, analytic, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent processes across organizational lines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical requirements to a non-technical audience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Applied Science, Engineering, or Mathematics
  • Experience leading high performing analytic teams
  • Experience working analytic problems in a federal environment
