Who we are
The CIPHeR lab at Altos Labs Bay Area Institute develops synthetic biology tools for genomic control of cells with a focus on reprogramming. Our team is a multidisciplinary team of mathematicians, computer scientists, molecular biologists and bioengineers looking to expand into the regulatory genomics landscape.
What You Will Contribute To Altos
You will apply and develop computational methods for analysis of genomics data, with particular emphasis on regulatory genomics and functional genomics datasets, with the goal of both leading and supporting biological research projects aimed at enhancing cellular reprogramming and understanding the mechanistic basis of cellular rejuvenation. Your work will lead to the generation of public knowledge in the form of publications; intellectual property in the form of patents; and will directly shape Altosβ pre-clinical programs.
Who You Are
We are seeking a Scientist I, Scientist II, or Senior Scientist who possesses the following qualifications. The level of the position will depend on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in Computational Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology or a related discipline
- A strong track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Interest in working side by side with biologists and computer scientists
- A deep knowledge of sequence analyses, comparative genomics, or regulatory genomics
- Experience working in an AWS compute environment or a strong willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with genome assembly, nanopore sequencing, or viral integration mapping
- Familiarity with version control a major plus
- Knowledge of Python is slightly preferred over R
The level of the position and the corresponding salary range will depend on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Salary range: Computational Scientist I, 138,550 - 187,450; Computational Scientist II, 163,000 - 253,500; Sr. Computational Scientist, 195,000 - 327,600
