Computer Forensics Analyst

I. Job Summary

Supports the operation and maintenance of the Computer Forensics lab by assisting Sr Analysts with investigation and litigation support. Responsible for conducting hands-on Computer Forensics collections and preservations for investigation and litigation. Under supervision, performs basic case analysis.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

• Conduct investigations using O365 Admin Security and Compliance Panels.
• Organization of storage in Amazon S3 environment.
• Conducts hands-on digital forensic collections in the Lab environment and across networks.
• Assists with day-to-day handling, management, processing and storage of digital evidence.
• Maintains and updates electronic evidence inventories, processing logs, work activity logs, and chain of custody forms for all work performed.
• Performs maintenance and troubleshooting as required on forensic software, hardware, network equipment and workstations.
• Strictly adheres to laboratory policies and procedures and document performance and completion of assigned tasks.
• Assists senior forensic analysts in the collection, tracking, preservation and verification of electronic evidence as required for litigation, investigations and electronic records archival support.
• Assists senior forensic analysts with evidence analysis, technical case reviews and administrative documentation.
• Assists senior forensic analysts with business and technical communications, work order status and tracking, and case/work product deliveries.
• Assists in assessing and updating Lab processes, procedures and tools to conform to accreditation standards in support of evolving investigation, litigation and eDiscovery requirements and standards.
• Participates in continuous improvement plans and efforts in the forensic lab.

IV. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

• Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Computer Science or Criminal Justice or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years of relevant work experience.
• Experience: Three years of prior work experience in the digital forensic field (in addition to education requirement).

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

• CFCE, CCE, EnCE or ACE
• Valid Driver's License

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

• Knowledge in Microsoft O365 Admin Panels
• Knowledge in Amazon S3 Storage preferred
• Advanced knowledge in PC Hardware and Windows
• Advanced networking skill
• Strong organizational and ability to handle multiple tasks
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with a variety of investigative and forensic analysis tools.
