Job Description
Salary: $120,000 - $185,000

We are seeking a COMSEC & Networking Specialist / Engineer to own the design, implementation, test, and successful development of evolving COMSEC architectures. The successful candidate will be responsible for design of secure network architectures across our space and ground systems that ensure robust security with verifiable compliance to DoD expectations. This is a collaborative role where you can expect to interact with our COMSEC Officer, Electrical and Software Engineers, Suppliers, and Customers to implement cutting-edge designs that ensure the security and success of York’s most innovative programs.

- Ensure compliance to COMSEC requirements and implementation of approved processes across programs. Provide leadership of crypto functions
- Define, design, implement, and manage the cryptography design of satellites and ground systems
- Establish and ensure compliance with COMSEC policies. Create and maintain System Key Management Plans
- Ensure proper implementation of crypto-related design features, such as red/black separation and
- Obtain customer and NSA approval for cryptographic architectures and components as required by contracts
- Identify, order, receive, and verify test and operational keys for cryptographic hardware. Load key fill devices with appropriate keying material
- Support Information Assurance in obtaining IATT and/or ATO approvals for classified testing.
- Support testing and verification of cryptographic hardware and systems containing crypto hardware. Provide troubleshooting and support as necessary to resolve issues and ensure success of critical program milestones
- Design networking architectures, interfaces, and security methods for spacecraft and space & ground networks
- Support testing and verification of networking hardware, software, and infrastructure.
- Serve as subject-matter expert for a variety of crypto and networking functions such as Link 16, HAIPE IS, NETCONF/YANG, and MPLS
- Provides guidance and training to York employees end-users
- Participates in testing and deployment of new technologies
- Advise senior management (e.g., CIO) on risk levels and security posture.
QUALIFICATIONS
- US Citizenship and active security clearance
- Technical Bachelor's degree preferred in engineering, computer science, or a related discipline
- CCNA-level networking knowledge; basic scripting knowledge (e.g. python, bash)
- Familiarity with configuring IP stacks on Linux hosts and routers
- Working knowledge of encryption technologies/methods (e.g. IPSec, VPN, AES, GRE, SHA)
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and teambuilding skills
- Ability to confidently convey technical information to senior leaders and customers
- 5+ years of experience in the aerospace or space industry, particularly on DOD programs
- Experience with the space industry, space operations, and space networks preferred
- Experience with HAIPE devices, NSA certifications, and symmetric or modern keys preferred
- Experience with remote mgmt. and config. of network devices, particularly SNMP and NETCONF preferred
