Raymond West is seeking a driven Systems Concepting and Estimating Engineer (C E Engineer) for our Storage and

Automation team. The C E Engineer is an entry to mid-level position with a specific focus to help take complex

automation solutions from rough concepts to final. The C E Engineer will be responsible for refining designs, sourcing

appropriate vendors and strategic partners, and working with the sales team to construct comprehensive RFP responses for

large automation projects.

Our C E Engineers continue to work closely with the Sales team and other Storage and Automation staff after a sale to

support the ordering and installation of the system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Develop storage and automation design concepts based on customer operational requirements and data.

• Work with Vendors and RW Sales to help develop estimates when needed

• Development of 2D and 3D CAD drawings to support the sales process.

• When needed, support the project management team with engineering and vendor communications.

• Work within a teamwork oriented and collaborative environment.

• Ensure quality standards are maintained across all areas of responsibility.

• Demonstrate high attention to detail, solid organization, and planning skills.

• Assist customers to define initiatives to improve quality and/or productivity and/or space savings.

• Occasionally attend conferences, meetings, vendor seminars and training to stay current in the material handling

equipment technologies industry and evaluate whether new concepts are applicable to our customers.

• Follow departmental and company procedures.

Preferred Skills or Experience:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• An understanding of Industrial Engineering work methods and related materials handling equipment. The applicant

must also have the ability to relate labor and space issues with the appropriate materials handling solution.

• Demonstrated competence in application of concepts, designs, and engineering.

• Proficient with AutoCAD and other design software and tools.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis on Excel.

• Industry experience with knowledge of conveyor systems, automated storage systems and equipment.

• Knowledge of conveyor control systems, WCS software and associated technology to guide system design.

• Familiarity with vendors in the industry and their product lines is preferred.

• Knowledge of permitting and building codes is a plus.

• Perform duties with minimal supervision; demonstrate drive and initiative while responding to rapidly varying

priorities and project requirements.

• Effective communication skills: in person, by telephone, and in writing with Company, vendors, and customer

employees at all levels.

• Experience adapting to unexpected changes.

• Familiarity with estimating/quoting a plus.

EDUCATION and/or Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Drafting, Engineering or equivalent in-industry experience is required.

• Must have 2 years' experience with AutoCAD.

• Must have 2 years' experience with design software

• This position requires excellent customer service and communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Word and

Excel, must be able to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Knowledge of conveyor design a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Bi-lingual a plus. Be able to speak, read, and write fluently in English. Be able to read, analyze, and interpret general

professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Be able to write reports. Be able to effectively

present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited

standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to make decisions with incomplete and missing information to meet a timeline while noting the assumptions

made that allowed the decisions to be made.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while

performing the essential functions of this job. Substantial driving distances to supervise and visit customer site locations

is expected. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts,

mechanical equipment, moving forklifts and other lift equipment, and vehicles. Employee may be exposed to outside

weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work

environment is usually moderate and persistent.

BUSINESS HOURS

Weekdays (Monday through Friday), 8 am to 5 pm, but varies as required.

During project deployment, working hours depend on the customer operational availability as determined by the

customer's site-management. Occasionally, during a project deployment, the candidate may travel out of region for up

to 14 days at a time.
