ASRC Federal Data Networks, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is seeking a Configuration Management Specialist, junior level.

Key Role:

Reporting to the Mission Assurance Team (MAT) Lead for the Engineering and Mission Operations Support Services VI (EMOSS-VI) contract, this position, based in Suitland, MD requires attention to detail, technical writing and process design expertise.

Our client is responsible for engineering and mission operations support for environment monitoring satellites managed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Satellite and Product Operations (OSPO). Current polar missions supported include POES (NOAA-15, 18 and 19), METOP-B and C, Jason-3, SNPP, JPSS-1 (NOAA-20) and JPSS-2 starting operations in early 2023. We also support the GOES-13, 14, 15 and GOES-16, 17, 18 satellite constellations.

The candidate will learn to translate complex, technical information into clear and simple language. Compose a variety of documents such as: internal engineering procedures, training presentations, process documents, technical reports, and meeting minutes.

Execute planning, configuration identification, configuration control, configuration verification, audits and configuration status. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring original and innovative thought to determine the best course of action to accomplish tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Regulate the change process so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into product documents and related software.
  • Once approved, review for completeness the change requests on the change management system.
  • Log onto the release management system and deploy those approved change requests onto the appropriate nodes.
  • Email engineering and CM team of the deployment status of the change requests.
  • Close the deployed changes requests within the change management system.
  • Development and management of Engineering/program related process documentation.
  • Supports the complete workflow process to ensure successful development and revision of Engineering/program management documents.
  • Complies with established quality processes to ensure accuracy, ease of use, and timely delivery of content.
  • Works with cross-functional teams to produce clear, complete, and technically accurate documentation
  • Participates with Engineering Process Management team to ensure department workflows and business processes are followed.
  • Prepares and revises engineering/program management procedures as necessary to provide clear, concise instruction for the preparation, release and control of engineering/program management documents.
  • Participates in discussions with internal/external customers in the development of source data for process documents.
  • Performs audits, analyzes results, and work with team members to provide process improvement recommendations to leadership that can reduce overall department cost and/or increase productivity.
  • Document process information using visual diagrams in the form of business process models
  • Analyze process models as they are (As-is), compare them to the future and improved designs (To-be) and determine the necessary changes for arriving at the improved state.
  • Design business processes (To-be) and manage any subsequent changes to them.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of processes to ensure consistent value delivery.


Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Management or related field
  • Zero to one year of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to work both in collaboration with others on a project team and independently complete tasks.
  • Experience with SharePoint and Nintex Workflow highly desired but not required


Work Environment and Physical Demands

Work in typical office building during a standard 40-hour week. Occasional deadlines or operational conditions require non-standard hours and longer hours.
