Job Summary

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Configuration Management Engineer to join our team and take ownership of implementing and maintaining effective configuration management processes. As a Configuration Management Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and scalability of our systems and applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline the configuration management lifecycle and ensure consistent and efficient delivery of software and infrastructure changes.

Key Responsibilities• Develop and implement configuration management strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure consistent and reliable software and infrastructure deployments.• Collaborate with development, operations, and QA teams to define and enforce configuration management standards.• Design and maintain configuration management tools, systems, and processes to automate the deployment, configuration, and management of software and infrastructure components.• Lead the identification, tracking, and control of configuration items, including software, hardware, documentation, and related assets.• Manage and maintain configuration management databases (CMDB) and version control systems to effectively track and control changes.• Implement and maintain automated build, release, and deployment pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Git, or other industry-standard tools.• Monitor and analyze configuration management metrics to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with established standards.• Conduct regular audits to verify the accuracy and completeness of configuration management data and documentation.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve configuration-related issues and provide technical support as needed.• Stay up-to-date with emerging configuration management technologies, tools, and best practices.

Skills and Experience• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.• Proven work experience as a Configuration Management Engineer or in a similar role.• Strong understanding of configuration management principles and best practices.• Experience with configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or SaltStack.• Experience with CMDB databases like Service Now.• Proficiency in scripting languages, such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.• Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, SVN, or TFS.• Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools, such as Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.• Strong communication and collaboration skills.• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications• Knowledge of cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.• Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker or Kubernetes.• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools, such as Terraform or CloudFormation.• Understanding of networking concepts and protocols.• Relevant certifications, such as Certified Configuration Manager (CCM) or ITIL Foundation.
