Summary

About the Position: Incumbent serves as a Senior Inspector on complicated issues concerning major military maintenance, repair and construction operations, administering construction and service contracts expected to range from approximately $5 to $30 million dollars.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for OPM Government-wide Direct Hire Authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: All US Citizens

If you are currently stationed in the overseas area, all of your overseas time will be credited toward your current overseas tour end date. Your overseas time served will not reset upon accepting this assignment.

If you have returned from OCONUS within the past two years or less, your time previously served in the OCONUS area will be credited to your five year overseas rotation upon accepting this assignment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience for GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service which includes: assisting with monitoring maintenance, repair, and construction operations and/or projects; and assisting with issues pertaining to construction contracts.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Specialized Experience for GS-12: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which includes: monitoring and controlling maintenance, repair, and construction operations and/or projects; providing comprehensive management advisory and technical services on substantive functions and practices, service contracts; and experience with identifying and recommending appropriate solutions to resolve complex interrelated problems and issues pertaining to construction contracts.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Separated Military Members:
