Job Description
Provide institutional and large family office clients with performance and analytics services to evaluate all aspects of the plan/fund's investment program. Work directly with clients and internal partners (performance analysts, senior management, client administration, and sales) to determine the appropriate service level requirements for the client. Focus on cultivating deeper relationships with the client's investment staff. Identify client specific cross selling opportunities and work towards upselling. Expand current skillset/knowledge of investments, performance reporting, and client servicing by keeping abreast of current investment trends by attending relevant conferences, reading material (ie white papers, WSJ/FT, etc.) and collaborating with peers and clients. Act as an active participant on the Northern Trust client service team.
Knowledge/Skills
Significant knowledge of investments (public and private markets, derivatives), asset allocation analysis, attribution, and industry related subject matter such as mandates, laws, regulations, and economic conditions that impact investments. Client servicing-centric work experience in the investment/performance industry is required to develop and provide performance and investment analysis products.
Have a thorough understanding of performance calculation, attribution methodologies, and additional investment analysis such as asset allocation interpretation, due diligence and investment manager searches. Analytical and problem solving skills are required to understand and provide investment reporting solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills are essential for collaborating with clients and internal partners.
Technology orientation and proficiency with MS Office products is required to generate and improve client reports.
Advance degree program and/or additional professional designations such as the CFA, CAIA, CIMA, or CIPM.
A consultative, proactive approach to client servicing is a must.
Major Duties
1. Provide clients with performance and investment analysis services to evaluate various investments in the client's plan/fund through analytically focused reporting, compliance monitoring and Northern Trust proprietary on-line performance reporting tools (types of tools?). Provide training support and subject matter expertise for Northern Trust's on-line performance reporting applications and output.
2. Consults with clients and acts as the technical expert on investments, performance and asset allocation as well as expanding client use of premium services that provide enhanced performance measurement, performance evaluation, and asset allocation reporting.
3. Communicates with clients, the client's money managers, and 3rd party consultants on a regular basis responding to investment performance related inquiries, researching reporting issues, and discussing performance analysis reporting capabilities and product suite.
4. Increase client awareness of the Investment Risk & Analytical Services department's premium product offerings with the intent of cross-selling products where appropriate.
5. Reviews rate of return and discrepancy analyses.
6. Interprets business periodicals in order to recognize and understand market environment and trends.
7. Interfaces with consultants, partners, and clients to determine servicing requirements and problem solving strategies.
8. Develops and produces investment performance reports for clients using internal reporting applications.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of investment related experience MBA and/or CFA a plus.
- Clients servicing experience required.
