If so, consider joining the Global Reinsurance Contracts team at CNA Insurance. Due to an internal promotion, this team is seeking a Consulting Director for Reinsurance Contracts.
In this position, you will enjoy a hybrid work schedule that consists of two days per week in office with the option to work the remainder of your week remotely.
This Senior level individual contributor role provides exposure to and visibility with senior management while allowing you to take ownership of your work as you collaborate with others across the company. In this role, you will use your strong technical expertise to evaluate, interpret, negotiate and draft contracts and other legal documents while providing legal advice to the various business units and specialty areas.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

• Reviews, interprets, evaluates, and approves contractual language, ensuring company's interests are protected and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Drafts reinsurance contracts and other legal documents including, but not limited to letters, other types of contracts and amendments (e.g. confidentiality, claim services, commutations, novations, and settlements), applications and other legally binding materials.
• Negotiates terms, changes, and amendments to contracts and other legal documents.
• Tracks contracts through to completion and ensures timely resolution of all issues.
• Maintains electronic files of all contracts and key communications.
• Creates various reports to track contracts and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
• Acts as designated technical resource.
• Cultivates and facilitates relationships with clients and internal and external business partners.
• May provide guidance to less experienced staff.
• Provides expertise on special projects.
• Stays up to date on trends and developments within the functional area as well as the insurance industry.

May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Advanced technical knowledge of specialty area (including related laws and regulations), the insurance industry and organizational practices and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven negotiation skills with the ability to effectively interact and foster collaborative relationships with all internal and external business partners.
• Strong consultative and facilitation skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment.
• Strong project management and analytical and problem solving skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.

Education and Experience

• Juris Doctorate strongly preferred.
• Typically a minimum of ten years legal or contract writing experience.
• Three or more years reinsurance experience preferred.
