The Supplier Management Governance function at CNA provides standardized guidance and support for supplier management activities executed within business lines across the enterprise. This position reports to the AVP, Third Party Risk & Assurance and is responsible for growing the maturity and leading the day-to-day operation of a federated, center-led supplier management function. As a senior resource, this position is expected to partner closely with supplier managers in various business areas across the enterprise and enable a culture of supplier management success through training, consultation, and collaboration.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
1. Develop and maintain supplier management governance documents to include procedures, guidelines, and training aids.
2. Track utilization of supplier management procedures via metrics and regular meetings with business areas; provide training periodically and as needed to build a culture of responsible supplier management within the business lines.
3. Create, implement and maintain a process in CNA's business spend management platform to assign contracts to supplier managers for CNA's strategic relationships.
4. Identify and implement technology enablement opportunities to streamline and standardize supplier management activities.
5. Maintain inventory of CNA's most strategic suppliers leveraging approved segmentation guidelines. For CNA's most strategic suppliers, drive cost and performance optimization via standardized analytics and proactive alignment with relevant supplier managers across CNA.
6. Develop & provide metrics and reporting to procurement and business leadership summarizing enterprise views on contracts, spend, risk, and performance for CNA's most strategic suppliers.
7. Maintain relationships with supplier managers within the business lines; provide supplier management SME advisory for consultation and escalation support.
8. Develop and maintain collaboration tools (i.e. Teams, monthly meetings) to encourage knowledge sharing and transparency across supplier managers.
9. Plan and lead quarterly supplier management summits to facilitate collaboration across a federated supplier management model.
10. Connect supplier managers with appropriate support stakeholders in Technology, Finance, Compliance, Legal, Operational Resiliency, and other areas as needed.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Possesses a thorough knowledge of supplier/vendor management best practices and trends within insurance or financial services more broadly.
2. Expertise in supplier segmentation, pre and post-contract risk, relationship, and performance management.
3. Ability to connect with stakeholders and build internal relationships required to enable decision making, mature a federated supplier management program and contribute to a culture of proactive supplier management, globally across the enterprise.
4. Biased toward action; takes the initiative to identify and solve problems
5. Compelling communicator; demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
6. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
7. Ability to communicate and simplify technical concepts for those not familiar with supplier management concepts, particularly in the context of business stakeholder training.
8. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff at all levels.
9. Fluency in current supplier management technology solutions and knowledge of supplier management tooling landscape.
10. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software systems including processing systems and applications.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent
2. 10 years of experience in supplier/vendor management, managing complex and critical contracts and relationships across varying supplier category types
3. Experience operating in a center-led or federated model of supplier management
4. Preferred category expertise working with Technology (software, hardware, maintenance support), and Insurance outsourced providers (Third Party Administrators)
