Build something new as a Consulting Director, Value Management and Innovation at CNA where you will get the opportunity to help develop and grow a new team and function! This position offers an optional hybrid work schedule, with one day working in the Chicago office and 4 days working remotely.
This senior level individual contributor is responsible for partnering with leadership and business stakeholders to substantiate and articulate the value of business initiatives and quantify the intended outcomes. This position works directly with Value Management leadership to create and operationalize a centralized structure for compiling and sharing business value achievement delivered through technology Products, Projects, and Value Streams. As part of the Business Relationship Management and Innovation (BRM&I) team, this role will help identify quantitative and qualitative measures and formally track benefit realization data before, during and after delivery. This position also partners with peers and business leaders to serve as a data-driven decision support practitioner to enable the new Value Model.
While all BRM&I team members have responsibility for bringing innovation to the business, this position shapes and influences our innovation program in order to identify and develop new technologies and business opportunities.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Leverages a consultative approach to help lead the creation and operationalization of CNA's value framework, scorecard methodologies/standards, measures library (OKRs/KPIs), benefits status reporting/visualization, and related processes to derive actionable insights for continuous improvement.
- Ideates, establishes, and implements value assessment capabilities to measure the value of technology investments by streamlining and standardizing tracking and monitoring mechanisms.
- Evaluates initiatives through quantitative and qualitative analysis and by collaborating with business and Technology leaders.
- Serves as the primary, accountable point of contact for all activities that support the end-to-end value realization process relative to Technology products, projects, and value streams across one or more portfolios.
- Convenes and leads cross-functional teams that are moderate to large in size or complexity comprised of business area and Technology representatives, leading quantitative and qualitative analyses and identification of appropriate scoring measures.
- Communicates and reports to senior business and technology leaders at regular intervals, briefing them on innovation and benefits trends, providing operational statistics for their business areas. Engages other business and technology leaders with expert knowledge to participate in these meetings, as needed.
- Coach, mentor, and develop Value Specialists who will work closely with BRM&I leads to assess, track, and ensure enablers are in place to execute value.
- Continually upgrades personal skills and knowledge about supported business areas, technology capabilities and innovative business solutions. Engages in research and competitive analysis to stay abreast of industry trends and advances.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Ability to develop a profound understanding of assigned business areas, their value drivers, and strategic direction.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior-level internal and external business partners at all levels.
- Solid understanding of Technology people, process, and capabilities and the knowledge to leverage those (and future) capabilities to measure and derive actionable insights to drive business value.
- Ability to craft and align on OKRs and KPIs with business and Technology leaders and operationalizing measurement, monitoring, and reporting of those measures.
- Skilled at effectively communicating complex topics in a non-technical and simplified manner.
- Strong consultative skills and professional maturity to organize, stratify, and derive benefit insights.
- Experienced in providing advice and counsel to senior leadership levels (Technology function and business areas) to foster strategic alignment, and appropriately influence decisions.
- Capability to manage multiple and shifting priorities in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Ability to listen, build rapport and credibility as a strategic partner vertically and horizontally within the assigned business units, as well as with the Technology leadership and functional teams.
- Knowledge and awareness of industry trends, and advances and proactively brings innovative ideas.
- Approach solutions as a corporate entrepreneur.
- Strong project management, organizing, and planning skills.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree with Master's preferred in a related discipline, or equivalent.
- Typically a minimum of eight years of related work experience, with a focus on value management, portfolio management, solutions management, business relationship management, or equivalent.
- Strong leadership ability and understanding/applying concepts and techniques in areas such as financial analysis, accounting, innovation management, and cross-team effectiveness.
- Knowledge organizing and monitoring OKRs and KPIs, creating/managing cost-benefit analyses, and deriving/tracking quantitative and qualitative benefit measures.
- Experience managing corporate innovation programs preferred.
- Insurance industry experience preferred.
- Applicable certifications preferred
