CONSUMER INSIGHTS STRATEGIST
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
The Client Insights Strategist partners daily with Marketing, Product and business partner teams to represent the voice of our clients and prospects in internal decision-making. This individual procures strategic and actionable client insights through primary and secondary research, and socializes them throughout the organization in compelling and actionable ways. This role is equal parts researcher and strategist: i.e., being able to implement (or oversee) research to its fullest potential based on internal needs, and being able to articulate and apply the "so what" with a clear and data-informed POV. This individual develops long-term relationships across the organization, to become a trusted strategic partner who is preemptively sought out for insights and research-based assistance. Ultimately, this individual personifies and nurtures City National's growing culture of customer-centricity.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Develop comprehensive research briefs in partnership with internal stakeholders, in order to ensure alignment and clarity around research objectives and requirements
- Conduct primary research for ongoing projects/initiatives across Marketing, Product and Digital teams
- Conduct primary and secondary/desk research based on ad hoc needs/requests
- Oversee research initiatives conducted by third-party research partners
- Conduct competitive intelligence research
- Consult on/manage 3rd party-led research initiatives across Marketing, Product and Digital teams
- Develop compelling creative briefs that inspire and inform teams with client and competitive insights
- Facilitate internal and client-based workshops, including brainstorms, Design Thinking, and co-creation sessions
- Participate in design reviews for advertising and marketing initiatives
- Provide a confident and informed POV on client needs across internal audiences, including senior decision-makers
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Must-Have*
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in marketing & consumer insights
- Examples of such roles include but are not limited to: primary researcher (in-house or agency), advertising brand planning/strategy, and brand consulting
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with quantitative and qualitative research
- Minimum 3 years of workshop facilitation experience
Skills and Knowledge
- Superior communication skills – written, powerpoint, in-person, with ability to explain data insights findings and “what it means” in a concise and easy to digest manner
- Experiences with insights-gathering, synthesis, and socialization of findings
- client-side market research, third-party research agencies, strategy roles in ad agencies, and/or management or brand consulting
- Experience with DEI and financial services is a plus, but not a requirement
- Exceptional analytical skills and problem solving capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively in an atmosphere of multiple projects and small teams
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of performance metrics reporting, scorecards and dashboarding
- Data visualization experience and know-how
- Excellent project management, analytical and written communication skills are required.
- Working knowledge of commercial and private banking and financial products is a plus.
- Experience with marketing and/or consumer research and the application of research to strategic development and initiatives
- Experience developing prioritized roadmaps based on client need
- Process and client journey mapping experience
- Experience working with outside business partners, including technology vendors, research firms, and consultants
- Strong problem-solving, resource management, and time-management skills
- High attention to detail
- Experience leading cross-functional projects with diverse sets of stakeholders from Marketing, Operations, and Technology
- Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated experience in interpreting data and translating into actionable insights
- Understanding of customer research platforms
- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
Compensation
Starting base salary: $101,231 - $172,355 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
