Consumer Lending Representative
ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT The primary focus of the incumbent will be to provide front line support to our members to expedite their consumer loan applications and to provide analytical and operational support to the Underwriting and Loan Closing teams throughout the consumer loan process. They are responsible for reviewing consumer loan applications and documentation. They must utilize their credit analysis skills and judgement to make appropriate recommendations for approval or declination to the Underwriting group. They provide a quality loan application for the Underwriting team and Loan Closing Specialist to review and move through to loan funding. They are also responsible for reviewing and managing the member's applications to ensure that we are in compliance with state and federal guidelines. The position requires excellent interpersonal skills, extensive direct member contact, the ability to negotiate with members regarding approvals and effectively utilizing sales skills and VyStar Excellence to facilitate loan closings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Fulfill member and prospective member loan applications and inquiries and finalize/fund various types of consumer loans.
- Utilize daily reporting to ensure that follow-up on loan applications is completed within applicable regulatory timeframes
- Analyze applicant credit report and make recommendations to underwriters as well as cross-sell additional loan opportunities to members.
- Process all credit union employee loans with the utmost confidentiality regarding credit and income.
- Must be familiar with all closing documentation and capable of explaining it to members
- The incumbent must possess the knowledge to read and evaluate multiple credit bureaus and make appropriate recommendations
- Provide enthusiastic, professional, quality, prompt and courteous service to members and others as appropriate.
- Discuss and recommend products and services to meet the needs of the member and the mission of VyStar Credit Union.
- Inform members of loan decisions and provide information for ancillary loan products.
- Review and analyze member verification of income including full personal and business federal tax returns.
- Review and verify member documentation for fraud and suspicious activity as outlined in BSA Red Flag Procedures.
- Maintain current working knowledge of VCU policies and procedures and all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Include appropriate people in decision-making process and make timely and informed decisions.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Required:
- A minimum of 5 years in the consumer lending field
- Must be able to work a flexible Monday-Saturday schedule
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external members, dealers and other financial institutions
- Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently
- Demonstrated track record of superior academic and work performance; demonstrated commitment to outstanding results
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment.

- Knowledge of N.A.D.A. website and books and how to determine the average retail value of the collateral being financed.
Preferred
- Proficient with the Zeus/Miser system, APPRO, Quick Assist, Report Portal, Title Tracking, DocuSign, Rightfax and the ADD system.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
EDUCATION
- An AA Degree in business or related field is required. BS Degree in related discipline is preferred.
- Work experience can be substituted on a one to one ratio in lieu of AA Degree
