Consumer Lending Representative
ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT
The primary focus of the Consumer Lending Representative (CLR) will be to provide member facing support to our members to expedite their consumer loan applications, provide analytical and operational support to the Underwriting Team and the Consumer Lending Loan Processing team throughout the consumer loan process. The position requires excellent interpersonal skills, extensive direct member contact, the ability to negotiate with members regarding loan approvals by effectively utilizing sales skills and VyStar Excellence to facilitate loan closings. The incumbent must quickly adapt to change, be a proactive thinker and make independent decisions that benefit the member and the credit union.
The incumbent is responsible for reviewing consumer loan applications and ensuring all documentation provided through the Contact Center, Digital and Consumer Lending loan channels is accurate and complete. They must utilize their credit analysis skills and judgment to make appropriate recommendations for loan decisions for the Underwriting group, provide a quality loan application for the Underwriting and Consumer Lending Loan Processors to review and facilitates loan funding. The CLR understands and is responsible for ensuring that all VyStar policies and procedures and state and federal guidelines are followed.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to have quality conversations with members and potential new members, ask questions, listen carefully, and make appropriate product and service recommendations.
- Responsible for working all digital, employee, large boat loan applications and follow-up on Contact Center representative applications.
- Present appropriate products and services in a positive, professional, and knowledgeable manner so that members can make informed decisions.
- Fulfill member and prospective new member loan applications with a focus on quality and working each loan application through quickly and accurately to a funding state.
- Utilize daily reporting and MeridianLink loan queues to ensure that appropriate follow-up on loan applications is completed within departmental service levels and applicable regulatory timeframes.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with our dealers, brokers, third-party vendors and with other business teams within the organization.
- Processes all credit union employee loans for direct consumer lending with the utmost confidentiality regarding credit and income.
- Possesses a good working knowledge of all closing paperwork, the DocuSign process and can work explain effectively to help members understand their loan documents and disclosures.
- Assists and helps to coordinate loan closings for members through the Branch network and remote closings for our members via DocuSign to facilitate fast closings at member convenience.
- The incumbent must possess the knowledge to read, analyze, and evaluate multiple credit bureau reports and make appropriate cross-sell recommendations to ensure that our member has the best product for their needs.
- Review and analyze member verification of income and employment including having a working knowledge of Tax Return verification.
- Review all supporting loan documentation such as Buyer’s orders, JD Power and KBB valuation and verification of citizenship and identity.
- Thoroughly examine and authenticate all member documentation to ensure there are no signs of fraud and suspicious behavior that trigger BSA Red Flag Procedures.
- Maintain current working knowledge of VyStar Credit Union’s policies and procedures and all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Involve relevant individuals in the decision-making process and make prompt and well-informed choices. Take accountability, fulfill obligations, and handle stressful situations adeptly.

Job Qualifications
Education
- Either High School or GED with 2-4 years of lending experience
- Either a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 2-4 years of lending experience OR Associates degree with 2 years of lending experience
Experience
2+ years lending experience, Consumer Lending experience is preferred

- Must be able to work a flexible schedule Monday-Saturday with overtime as needed.
