The content analyst drives the production of timely, relevant, and actionable Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and Practice Specialty Center (PSC) content, collaborating closely with subject matter experts within the SBU and PSC to advance and execute content strategies that support the development of new business and deepen relationships with current clients. The content analyst will also be a member of the firm's content team, collaborating closely with the firm's Creative Services, Channel Marketing, and Media teams to ensure that content is on brand, and that it reaches the intended audience.
The content analyst reports to a partner within the SBU and PSC with dotted line to the (Head of Thought Leadership).
The content analyst researches, writes and edits content for a broad range of internal and external communications, including memos, video and podcast scripts, presentations, newsletters, award nominations, talking points, thought leadership pieces and event-related materials. The content analyst ensures that "all of the dots are connected" for the SBU and PSC content by identifying key stakeholders and participants, gathering information to shape messages, and putting pen to paper. The content analyst should possess the characteristics of a resourceful and persistent news reporter and producer, and the talents of an elegant writer, able to produce compelling, concise and error-free copy. The successful applicant will also be able to grasp the nuances of a unique law firm culture and work collaboratively with production teams through a workflow management tool.
For this content analyst position, command of SBU and PSC topics is essential, and working closely with the firm's Marketing & Communications department is critical. Essential functions include:
- Provide high-level reporting, writing and editing for internal and external communications that support the needs of (SBU/PSC) leadership.
- Use the firm's Marketing & Communications workflow tool (Wrike) to enter and track projects; align with the Marketing & Communications team on assignment of resources, approval workflow, and distribution of content through the firm's owned and paid channels; work with the firm's External communications team on thought leadership and media placement opportunities.
- Use Marketing & Communications content leadership, tools, and resources to ensure that all content is on-brand and best practice.
- Proactively seek out, identify and develop compelling, timely content.
- Be attuned to current events that may impact client business context and operations; be prepared to get insights to market on a very tight timeframe.
- Solicit input and feedback from partners; proofread, edit and fact check material on tight deadline.
- Support (SBU/PSC) multimedia production by writing video and podcast scripts for attorneys. Conduct interviews with subjects in advance of drafting scripts to capture appropriate voice.
- Create presentations for webinars and client meetings.
Position Requirements:
- Professional writing and editing experience with content pertaining to emerging computer and digital technologies, including:
- Familiarity with the technical/scientific substance
- Conversance with the legal and regulatory frameworks related to the commercialization of these technologies, including implications for data privacy, cybersecurity, consumer-related liability, and antitrust, among other areas
- Familiarity with the audiences that consumer this material, including business-unit leaders, researchers and technologists, inhouse legal counsel, and members of the media
- An understanding of how to write for different channels, such as websites, blogs, social media, print trade publications, private business presentations, etc.
- Having a demonstrable portfolio of work pertaining to emerging computer and digital technologies including experience in artificial intelligence
- Excellent overall written and verbal communication skills
- Track record of collaboration with colleagues in and across departments, particularly in relatively flat organizational structures where initiative and persistence are highly valued
- Ability to conduct independent market, legal, and scientific research
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment, including the ability to meet flexible time demands
- Ability to prioritize workflow and organize diverse material
- Ability to perform effectively with moderate supervision and within established time limits and on-going deadlines
- Experience in the legal, technology, or journalism field is a bonus
