Content and Social Media Manager
Job Description
Cox Enterprises' Corporate Communications and Public Affairs department is looking for a Content and Social Media Manager to help tell our company story.
This person should have experience creating and publishing engaging content across multiple traditional and digital channels and platforms. They should have strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills and be comfortable collaborating on content strategy. Additionally, this manager must be fluent in digital communications and be comfortable working closely with our marketing team on social media strategy and execution. The position requires social media experience with online reputation management, including monitoring, determining response strategies, tracking, and metrics. This person will also need to switch between our brand voice and the voice of our executives, making smart on-the-job decisions that protect Cox's values and brand.
Our ideal candidate has strong attention to detail and excellent project management skills. You must be self-directed, organized, and able to independently establish priorities and manage multiple deadlines and initiatives. You must be a strong writer who loves drafting catchy headlines, attention-grabbing copy and partnering with other writers, designers, content measurement analysts and other partners from across the business.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Proactively recognize and suggest content/channel ideas that align with team or campaign goals.
- Craft clear, compelling and engaging internal and external content that creates enthusiasm and informs our employees, customers and community members.
- Publish original, high-quality content for digital and print channels.
- Create and edit articles, social media posts, video scripts, website page copy, blog posts, news release copy, etc. for internal and external channels.
- Partner with corporate communications and internal partner teams to recommend channel placement and delivery of key messages. Craft best-in-class copy and provide excellent customer service for internal partners.
- Collaborate with our in-house Creative Studio to develop visuals for campaigns and projects.
- Collaborate with our marketing team to develop and execute on our Enterprise social media strategy.
- Conduct interviews and represent the Corporate Communications team in a professional and transparent manner. Research and fact-check content to ensure high-quality output. Edit and proofread copy, adjusting as needed for various audiences and channels.
- Assist in analyzing and acting on data trends.
- Assist in management and governance of numerous platforms, including Sharepoint, Airtable, EmailOpen, SnapComms, Sprout, Axios HQ and others.
- Source and format images for a variety of channels.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, English, Journalism or related field and 6 years' experience; a master's degree in Marketing, Advertising, English, Journalism or related field and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience in Marketing, Advertising, English, Journalism, or related field; In lieu of a degree, 10 years of experience will be considered
- Strong knowledge of AP Style.
- Three to five years' proven copywriting experience. Newsroom or press office experience a plus.
- A persuasive portfolio of work and a passion for concise, effective, compelling copy.
- Experience in writing for websites, newsletters, social media and print publications.
- Exceptional ability to quickly change tone/voice between channels and projects, with an emphasis on writing that is concise, engaging and approachable.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Strong research and interviewing skills - a journalistic spirit.
- Ability to learn new content management systems and adapt as technology evolves.
- Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint and Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva preferred.
- Enthusiasm and ambition to innovate and initiate creative ideas.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills - likes to beat deadlines.
- A team player who is self-motivated, seeks continuous improvement and has a positive attitude.
