Profile Summary:

The Content Creator is responsible for writing, developing, editing and publishing content in a variety of formats. This may include materials that are traditionally delivered via print (brochures, flyers, etc.) as well as digital channels (websites, emails, social media posts, video scripts and more).

Experience in highly regulated industries like insurance, health care and/or financial services is preferred. Experience writing for professional and consumer audiences about retirement services, group insurance benefits (term life insurance, disability income insurance, leave management), supplemental health insurance (accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity insurance) and/or health savings and spending accounts is a plus.

Because this role is primarily focused on content creation, this person must have exceptional writing and editing skills, along with a passion for transforming ideas into words. In particular, we are seeking a writer who can take a complex topic (such as retirement or insurance) and translate it into copy that is audience-centric, clear and concise yet also creative and compelling.

Profile Description:
  • Identifies and conceptualizes story ideas on a broad range of financial topics for a variety of channels and turns them into compelling narratives
  • Responsible for learning/understanding Voya's workplace benefits and retirement products, services and audiences to effectively provide strategic recommendations and consultation to the broader marketing team to improve content effectiveness
  • Leader of original content creation across Voya's B2B and B2C blog channels in support of our editorial strategy
  • Leader of content best practices and expert in the creation of content and content lengths required for various mediums including print, web, email and video
  • Works collaboratively with designers, other writers/creators, and project owners to explore creative ideas with a clear focus on business objectives, target audience perspectives and content channel
  • Applies audience research and insights to work and keeps abreast of market, competitor and audience trends
  • Successfully navigates a complex stakeholder environment, gathering and filtering feedback/signoffs from several different sources
  • Leverages digital analytics to acquire actionable insights and proactively uncovers value-add improvement opportunities based on performance data
  • Works well in a deadline-driven environment and following a standard workflow to manage work/tasks
  • Creatively problem solves and proactively finds opportunities to improve content creation process, efficiency and effectiveness
  • Other duties as assigned


Skills/ Knowledge:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing Communications, Journalism, English or related degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 4 + years professional writing experience in the financial services, retirement and/or employee benefits industry
  • Creativity: You will need to create original work and develop ideas around your chosen themes.
  • Determination: Some assignments can take a long time to finish, or your editor may turn it around for many, many revisions.
  • Persuasion: Need to know how to write persuasively and in some cases, defend their creative choices.
  • Social Perceptiveness: Content Creators need to have their finger on the pulse, so that their copy is relevant and modern, and understand how people will react to their writing.
  • Writing Skills: Need to write well with proper tone, feeling, sentence structure and emotion. Grammar counts!
  • Organization: Requires time management, attention to detail and project management skills to meet deadlines
  • SEO and Google Analytics experience a plus
  • Present a portfolio of exceptional self-created writing output.


Please Note: This position has been designated as a hybrid-office/home role. Details of your in-office schedule will be finalized with your manager.
