Content Writer

About the Role

Home Solutions is seeking a Content Writer with excellent writing and research skills, plus a curiosity for and experience in digital content and SEO. You will become an expert in the category areas you write, and you’ll be responsible for writing and updating content, conducting expert interviews and surveys, and discovering and applying best standards.

Your Day-to-Day

• Write quality articles, reviews, and round-ups — each one accurate, well-researched, SEO-optimized, on-brand, and on time.
  
• Receive constructive feedback to learn our standards and revise your work accordingly.
  
• Refine and update existing content pieces to keep them up to date and apply evolving best practices so all content is accurate, current, and helpful to our readers.
  
• Brainstorm visual and copy ideas with our editorial team and make recommendations on how to implement.
  
• Source or create images, charts, graphs, and infographics to supplement content pieces.
  
• Demonstrate a meticulous approach to your work — display a highly organized and focused process and a thorough ability to execute.
  
• Be ready to take on new projects (such as a research focus group) and types of content (such as video creation).
  

About You 

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred.
  
• 1–3+ years of proven dexterity with written language. You can translate ideas and complex research into accurate copy that engages and informs your audience. You may demonstrate this with a portfolio of varied writing samples directed at different audiences.
  
• Experience and/or passion for SEO and content marketing a plus: If you don’t have this experience, you are eager and passionate about learning and applying these strategies to your content in a consistent and natural way.
  
• Problem solving and agility: You thrive in an environment where there is no playbook for success. You can adapt to different tasks and shift priorities as needed. You have an entrepreneurial spirit and are energized by helping build a team.
  
• An inherent drive to be excellent: You are not satisfied with average. You are enthusiastic and committed to do whatever it takes to get the job done at a world-class level.
  
• Comfort in working with an editor and receiving feedback on your writing, adapting to new styles, practices, and platforms.
  
• Experience with home improvement projects (a bonus, not required).
