Baldor Specialty Foods need you. An industry leader in premium restaurant and retail food distribution, Baldor continues to grow and evolve at a rapid pace and is seeking someone with excellent writing skills and a passion for food to be our full-time, in-house Content Writer.

As a member of the Marketing team-reporting to the Content Manager, who reports up to the Director of Brand and VP of Marketing-the Content Writer role supports the Marketing team's primary goals, which are growing revenue (by attracting new customers and increasing share of plate of existing customers) and growing favorability for our brand. To do this, you will write about our committed farmers and dedicated artisanal producers, and how they strive to perfect the delicate art of taste. You will tell the story of our products, creating sensory experiences through words. And you will spotlight the ethos of our company, championing the people who make it their job to provide the quality customers can trust and service that delivers. While most of this role will be writing for customer audience segments (restaurants, retailers, national accounts and wholesale), you will also write for our internal audiences, helping our more than 2,000 employees feel even more connected to our mission and vision.

You are suited to this role if you are a creative writer with experience bringing food stories to life. You should be able to show examples of scintillating ad copy as well as narrative thought leadership. We're looking for someone with experience balancing the divergent goals of "content" and "marketing" to deliver results. And we someone who recognizes the differences between writing for ads vs. product descriptions vs. blogs.

This is a hybrid role; the Content Writer will be expected to be in our Bronx, NY headquarters at least 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Ideate and write copy for all Baldor channels, including the Baldor website, social media, video scripts and e-mails, as well as print collateral such as our bi-annual magazine, retailer sell sheets/ product sheets, copy for point of sale or event collateral. Content will include both customer-facing messaging as well as internal communications.

• Collaborate closely with Merchandising team to understand what is new and exciting in our catalogue, and how to tell the story of our special products; collaborate with Sales to understand customer needs.

• Understand the business goals of each piece of content and integrate calls to action seamlessly into the copy.

• Interview internal subject-matter experts as well as our partners (farmers, purveyors, producers, etc) as needed to write stories; travel to locations of partners as needed

• Revise copy based on internal feedback.

• Serve as a key shareholder of the brand voice, helping ensure we maintain a consistent brand voice across all channels.

• Optimize for SEO as needed.

Qualifications

• Passion for food and the food industry.

• 5+ years professional content and copywriting experience, some in a marketing environment, with a solid portfolio of work.

• Excellent writing skills.

• Experience creating content that serves audience needs.

• Empathy for audience needs and ability to "get into their shoes" to create powerful content that solves their problems.

• Strong person-to-person communicator, who proactively works to connect and build trust cross-functionally.

• Detail oriented and grammar obsessed.

• Consistency in meeting or beating deadlines.

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, or related discipline.

• Food writing experience preferred.
