Job Description

Who We Are:

Qgiv exists to help people fulfill their passion to make a difference. Founded in 2007, Qgiv now provides thoughtfully-designed, user-friendly fundraising software to more than 6,000 nonprofits in the US and Canada. Nonprofits such as Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Junior Achievement, Humane Societies, and more use Qgiv's online fundraising tools to delight donors and raise funds for their missions.

We're guided by our core values: empathy, introspection, honesty + integrity, persistence, openness, respect, and passion. We work hard to meet deadlines and goals, but we also take time to celebrate and have fun! In the office, we enjoy game nights, potlucks, costumes, office decorating competitions, a monthly birthday cake, and more free snacks and beverages than should be allowed. For those remote, we stay connected through video and Slack, weekly coffee talks, and virtual Town Hall meetings.

We strive to create a workplace culture in which individuals can be their authentic selves while working towards our company mission. We don't search for perfect candidates; we look for candidates that are invested in helping us improve while also improving themselves.

Qgiv is looking for a Content Writer and Editor who gets excited by the idea of creating and reviewing B2B content that informs, educates, and inspires. This writer will create content that supports the writing needs for the Qgiv blog, downloadable assets such as eBooks and white papers, customer stories, and other content as necessary. This role requires a talented content creator who knows how to turn information people need into information they want, while upholding editorial standards and displaying a sense of purpose in everything they create. You'll be an eagle-eye editor who reviews social posts, blogs, and content written by other members of the team. You should have an almost obsessive attention to detail when it comes to grammar, spelling, and overall presentation. It'll be your job to catch any errors the rest of the team misses (we hate it when that happens).

The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of content writing best practices and know how to use the written word to support digital marketing and brand development efforts. They will be a part of our Marketing team and work closely with our Customer, Product, and Partner Marketing Managers. At Qgiv, you will be a part of the conversation, working with a variety of teams to implement new marketing activities to drive demand generation and customer engagement.

Substantial Position Goals

  • Create informative content and resources for current and potential clients based on research and client interaction including, but not limited to, blogs, white papers, eBooks, and templates.
  • Collaborate with the Brand Communications team to ensure major resources produced are aligned with PR initiatives and industry need.
  • Track and monitor the performance of major resources to increase new contact generation.
  • Provide expert grammar feedback on all Qgiv content across all departments to ensure language is error-free.
  • Be the Qgiv brand champion, reviewing and enforcing Qgiv's voice and tone on all content across all departments.
  • Support other departments through creation of requested materials (or based on needs you perceive) such as newsletter content, handouts, and blog digest emails.
  • Own and lead assigned projects from inception to completion, keeping them on time and the appropriate stakeholders informed of updates.
  • Build emails, landing pages, and campaigns in HubSpot to ensure blog digest and resources are sent to the appropriate

    subscribers.

Results

  • Increase total downloads of Qgiv resources by 10% YoY.
  • Increase engagement of all new and updated blog articles, improving time on site by 10% on average.
  • Create, manage, and launch projects on schedule 95% of the time.

Obstacles

External Obstacles:

  • Seasonal audience interest and driving engagement during annual giving cycles.
  • Producing regular content and updates to increase and maintain Qgiv's expertise in the nonprofit space.
  • Staying up to date on fundraising best practices.

Internal Obstacles:

  • Data siloes make it difficult to see full buyer engagement and interests.

What to expect (Actions)

  • You'll contribute to diverse content projects; blogs, case studies, eBooks, white papers, email campaigns, and other content needs.
  • You'll create content that displays a firm understanding of our customers' interests and challenges and map those to Qgiv's benefits through thoughtful, readable copy.
  • A collaborative environment designed to inform and progress projects, balanced with independent periods of writing.
  • Team-supported and self-motivated research on content writing best practices and latest trends to form an opinion on why and how new approaches should be considered at Qgiv.
  • Big picture strategies and localized tactics so that every piece of content ties into our overarching content strategy while delivering on a specific need for Qgiv customers.
  • Build a portfolio of content projects showcasing writing and editorial skills.

Requirements

What you need to be successful:

  • At least 4 years' experience in content writing, preferably for enterprise B2B technology.
  • A deep understanding of grammar rules and a willingness to provide constructive feedback.
  • Ability to understand complex technological ideas and distill them into readable copy that's easy and enjoyable to read.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative group environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable writing in a way that aligns with brand messaging, narrative, and tone of voice.
  • Comfortable multitasking, managing projects that require multiple reviews from various stakeholders, and prioritizing projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build stakeholder relationships and manage project expectations and timelines.
  • Basic understanding of various marketing tools including WordPress, HubSpot, and Asana.
  • Up to date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement.
