Continuous Improvement Intern - Job Description
What you will do
Johnson Controls invites you to apply for a position in our internship program located in Wichita, KS. Our internship program is designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives that are consistent with your career goals and current level of education. Specific identified internship responsibilities are outlined below.
How you will do it:
- Complete JCMS Training Modules
- Performs value-stream-mapping, current and future state.
- Involves shop floor personnel in Kaizen events and trains them in the use of CI tools.
- Assist Lean Implementers and Six Sigma Black belts in data collection.
- Assists in the gathering and reporting of JCMS assessment data.
- Completing 5's events and audits showing improvement in designated areas
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Routine use of Microsoft Office Tools: Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
What we look for
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a full-time graduate level student at an accredited U.S. college or university in the Wichita area with a graduation date no sooner than Dec 2023.
- Enrolled in an Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering program.
- Ability to work 20 hrs. a week during the spring and fall semester and 40 hrs. a week over the summer for duration of the program (beginning Spring 2023).
- Proficiency in a Windows operating environment, including email and Microsoft Office software.
- Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making abilities.
- Effective and professional communication and organization skills.
- Basic statistical knowledge and ability to apply statistics to process improvement projects.
- Ability to exercise influence without authority.
- U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.
