Position Summary

Crescent Continuous Improvement Specialist is primarily responsible for the management and implementation of Continuous Improvement projects and Root Cause-Corrective Action Requests.

The CI Specialist works primarily conceiving, developing and implementing Continuous Improvement projects using the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle in an AS9120-compliant warehouse environment.  Projects are designed to improve Crescent’s ability to Do it Right, Do it Safe, and Do it Well.  The CI Specialist will also manage Corrective Action Requests/Responses and use robust Root Cause-Corrective Action (RCCA) techniques to find solutions to internal and external problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safety

  • Read, understand, and periodically review the Crescent Safety Playbook.
  • Ensure Safe and well-maintained Work Environment and conditions throughout all work spaces, facility and surrounding areas.
  • Actively participate in Safety Committee activities and initiatives and champion and engage all staff and employees in cultivating and promoting a Safety-First Culture.
  • Ensure processes and projects protect the Safety and Integrity of all stocked hardware, minimizing the risk of Foreign Object Damage throughout the operation.

People

  • Lead specialized Project Teams of engaged People to complete some projects.
  • Train our People to new Processes and other Continuous Improvement implementations as needed.
  • Promote a Work Environment where Crescent People are valued and can safely communicate, grow and develop

Productivity

  • Support Cross Functional Teams to manage Continuous Improvement project implementations.
  • Support and review material and workflow processes to ensure Design Quality and maximize production efficiencies 
  • Champion the Crescent Culture of Doing it Right, Doing it Safe and Doing it Well and abide by all written and understood policies and procedures.
  • Identify, drive and support all Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts 
  • All other duties as assigned, including but not limited to the identification and training of an individual capable of successfully completing all stated Key Responsibilities as appropriate to maintain integrity of position for progression planning and coverage during times of absence.

Quality

  • Implement processes meeting the AS9120 Standard, Crescent’s Quality Management System (QMS), and applicable Customer and Regulatory standards.
  • Measure and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), looking for adverse trends and opportunities for improvement (OFIs).
  • Write work instructions, flowcharts, and quality management procedures linking our People to our Purpose in an easy-to-understand format meeting our compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare data for and spearhead Quality KPI meetings with Operations team and other key People.
  • Participate as an active member of the Project Start Up Team to ensure Quality considerations and Design Quality have been implemented prior to new project start.
  • Manage site Customer Return events and Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) and lead investigations as necessary 
  • Sustain and drive Lean Manufacturing and 5S activities driving Quality CI initiatives 

Customer Value

  • Ensure processes, programs and controls are intact and executed against to deliver top quality product/service to all Crescent customers.
  • Work with customer Quality relationships, reporting and communicating to ensure customers are well informed with Crescent performance, challenges and CI initiatives.

Financial

  • Safeguard site Process Accuracy KPI to meet established targets 
  • Improve organizational efficiency and reduce spending /operating waste

Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Fast paced environment, requiring CI Specialist to be flexible in project implementation with minimal interruption to operations productivity.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arm’s length, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Technical ability to analyze and present data using MS Excel and other software tools. Adaptable to multiple software applications (standard and proprietary).
  • Shared intranet environments for recordkeeping and tracking project process, KPI current levels, etc.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Qualifications

Education & Experience:                                                                                                                   

  • College diploma, military leadership, or similar experience
  • 2+ years Project Management/Implementation experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, or similar environment.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP Systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communication
  • Experience writing clear, concise Work Instructions or other written Procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading teams or projects strongly desired
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) Lean certification preferred.
  • Experience in a compliance/regulatory environment preferred (ISO9000, AS9100/9120, FAA, SQF, etc.)

We will absolutely know the CI Specialist is successful if they can:

  • Conceive and deliver excellent Continuous Improvement projects which improve our Key Performance Indicators
  • Implement Corrective Actions to eliminate Root Causes of undesired conditions/service.
  • Work well with Operations, Quality, and all other key People to complete projects in a timely manner without exceeding cost limits.
