Contract: Java Development Team Lead / Manager

Upwork is looking for an experienced Java Development Team Lead / Manager to work on one of our products within the platform.

Work/Project Scope

• You will be working with Engineering and Data Science teams Product Managers and Designers to build outstanding products for our users!

• Lead and grow a team of software engineers with a focus on quality and customer-centricity.

• You will partner with product management and design for planning and driving execution and timely delivery of projects with a high bar of quality.

• Understand the larger vision features and challenges and distill them down into plans accounting for trade-offs to realize the goals.

• Collaborate within and across teams to design build and ship delightful experiences for our customers

Must Haves (Required Skills)

• 8+ years of software development experience using Java

• At least 3 years of team management experience

• Technical leadership experience in building complex projects from ideation to launch

• Ability to define the roadmap and goals for the team in partnership with the product team and being able to keep the team aligned and informed about the business goals

• Proven experience with delivering business-critical projects

• Strong project management skills and experience partnering with cross-functional teams to successfully launch products

• People management skills

• Good interpersonal skills and strong experience in collaborating with multiple stakeholders

• Communicate frequently and effectively in English.
