The Role:Â
Carrot is seeking a Contract Manager to manage the process for Carrot’s customer contracts, including master service agreements, service level agreements, plan documents, business associate agreements, and data processing agreements. You will help the lawyers manage the non-legal issues arising from documents. This role is an opportunity to be Carrot’s first in-house contracts manager with this area of expertise and to join a dynamic and quickly scaling legal team. The right professional for this position thrives on working with multiple teams at once, coordinating and managing many documents while remaining focused on Carrot’s priorities. Â
The Team:Â
The Contract Manager reports to Carrot’s VP of Legal and sits within a pod of other legal professionals, including other attorneys and legal professionals.Â
Minimum Qualifications:Â
- You have the drive to do the right thing
- You understand that we have an existing CLM and are willing to learn and integrate with our existing processes to perform your job
- You masterfully use Microsoft Word (meaning you can edit a TOC, TOA, tables, signature blocks, basic macro coding, and update Styles)Â
- Business knowledge: You know, generally, how business works, what are standard clauses in a contract, how they work and for what purposes.
- Negotiation skills: You can negotiate internally within the business, and externally with counterparty to make reasonable changes.Â
- Attention to detail: An eye for detail to the point where you can see two spaces instead of one. You are responsible to ensure that the contract has the right number of digits from the contact phone number to the contract value.Â
- Communication skills: Collaboration in writing and/or verbal via Email, Slack, MS Word comments, Google Docs comments, Zoom, Teams, In Person and other means of modern day communication - and once in a blue moon - fax.Â
- Understanding of risk management/ compliance: You need to know how to determine risk and oversee contracts so that they conform with regulations and obligations as required, and escalate to the right lawyer for concern issues that are beyond “by the book”.
- Collaboration skills: We have different personality types and you will likely work with some or most of them, both externally and internally, to create and revise contracts, since contracts often cover many different business functions.
- Love for improvement: Small companies have lots of room for improvement. You should have a love for process and improvement because you will need to better automate your processes or streamline your methods to grow (for yourself and with the company)Â
Preferred Qualifications:Â
- J.D. Law Degree or experience working at a law firm
- Familiarity with Ironclad, a contract management software tool
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills - including reasonable and customary business etiquette
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to successfully handle multiple concurrent tasks/assignments simultaneously: attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy
- Use Slack as conversational tool
- GSuite in lieu of MS Office
Compensation:
Carrot offers a holistic Total Rewards package designed to support our employees in all aspects of their life inside and outside of work, including health and wellness benefits, retirement savings plans, short- and long-term incentives, parental leave, family-forming assistance, and a competitive compensation package. The expected base salary for this position will range from $71,000 - $96,000. Actual compensation may vary from posted base salary depending on your confirmed job-related skills and experience.
