Avetta, LLC is a leading provider of supply chain risk management solutions, helping companies manage and mitigate risks associated with their contractors and suppliers. We are currently seeking a Contract Product Owner to provide maternity leave coverage within our Product Management team. This is a temporary position with a duration of 5+ months and will be 100% remote, work from home.

The Contract Product Owner will advocate for the customer using your excellent product instincts, passion for creating great experiences, a data-influenced mindset, superb organizational skills and agile thinking to achieve operational success in delivering new product features. You provide key support to the product team by facilitating executional investigation, analysis, review and documentation of product features and functionality in Avetta’s flagship SaaS solution, Connect. As a Product Owner, you own your products backlog from creation, into development and release, and ongoing maintenance. You are a key member of the Product team and collaborate with an assigned Product Manager to prioritize new features and changes to the platform, work closely with your Engineering team to make those a reality, then evangelize and enable features to the rest of the company. This is a good role for you if you are skilled at project management, operational excellence, distilling big rocks into digestible and shippable units, and passionate about customer experience.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Gather and synthesize requirements from product managers, customers, subject matter experts, and internal stakeholders 
•    Define feature functionality in collaboration with the Product Manager and Engineering 
•    Break down features to be developed into executable milestones and individual user stories clarifying business requirements, removing roadblocks, constantly communicating and gaining alignment around feature or product strategy with your Scrum team 
•    Plan and prioritize product feature backlog and development for your scrum team
•    Perform acceptance testing, verify features' release readiness, and ensure quality and timely delivery; remove barriers for team members and resolve open issues/questions quickly and efficiently. 
•    Work closely with Engineering technical leadership to ensure key architectural roadmap items are woven into the product backlog 
•    Work closely with other Product Managers/Owners to identify cross product dependencies 
•    Collaborate with UX to research, design, and test potential solutions to features and product backlog items 
•    Partner with the Product Knowledge Management team to provide feature configuration and workflow details 
•    Effectively communicate the opportunity/problem we are solving, the business value and rationale behind your product decisions  
•    Communicate effectively, often, and professionally with internal and external stakeholders to prevent issues with delivery, prevent miscommunications and confusion, and manage expectations 
•    Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of release/sprint goals 
•    Analyze and investigate product complaints or reported quality issues to ensure closure in accordance with SLAs 
•    Conduct product demonstrations for internal stakeholders and functional teams 
•    Improve existing processes for product definition 
•    Partners with Scrum Master(s) to provide feedback, support, and coaching to Agile/Scrum best practices 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

•    4+ years in product management owning one or more products in a SaaS environment; exposure to Scaled Agile Framework is a plus 
•    Ability to explain both big picture (why a feature is important, why the design is what it is) and fine details (detailed acceptance criteria) 
•    Firm knowledge of SaaS, internet technologies, browser technologies, web apps, and mobile apps 
•    Define epics and user stories, drive backlog allocations, collaborate on UI/UX and partner with the engineering team in the development life cycle 
•    Accomplished working with teams, leading discussions, facilitating decision making and buy-in 
•    Strong creativity when solving UX challenges 
•    Demonstrated ability to influence without authority as well as collaborate and negotiate with key stakeholders and executives 
•    Experience with reporting and analyzing key metrics and incorporating them into decision- making processes 
•    Experience using Jira or similar ticketing system to manage product backlogs 
•    Experience using Confluence to build wiki and display reports 
•    Highly effective communication, presentation, and facilitation skills 

METRICS THAT MATTER:

•    Develop the “what” and the “why” into requirements artifacts that break down business opportunity/problem into features granular enough for sprint cycles 
•    Plan and prioritize product feature backlog and development for the product 
•    Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories 
•    Collaborate with UX to research, design and test potential solutions to features and product backlog items 
•    Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of release/sprint goals 
•    Host backlog refinement and sprint review meetings 
•    Analyze and investigate product complaints or reported quality issues to ensure closure in accordance with SLAs 
•    Conduct product testing on new development and validate whether the user story has been built to the requirements 
•    Conduct product demonstrations to internal stakeholders and functional teams
